Diabetic With High Cholesterol And Highbp

Thank you. If only life was simple! I've been trying hard with the lower carbs and think I'm getting my head round reading labels. It just seems so odd that things like cream are good, but I will definitely try and see what happens. I'm treating it all as a challenge, and my cv says I love a...

Diabetic With High Cholesterol And Highbp

I understand that lowering the carbs is definitely going to help the diabetes, but is higher fat content going to make my already high cholesterol higher still? I've been vegetarian for about 60 years, and the triple diagnosis has been a shock. I've received lots of advice on this site, which is...

    This Is So Hard......

Hi I can't advise as I'm also a newbie. I really feel for you and can totally sympathise with your husband. I haven't been offered any support or advice by any medics. All info has come from this website and other online info. It's a very scary feeling and we feel very isolated even though we...

    Is This Normal?

I don't think it's asthma, it's not like when I've needed my inhaler before, and I don't think it would help to use it. You're right, it is a weird sensation and I suppose it could be an anxiety thing that I'm unaware of triggering. It only happened once today. Hopefully it will settle. Thank...

    Is This Normal?

Thanks Pipp, I don't have a monitor yet, as dr didn't even mention it when he diagnosed T2, and I've not yet seen a nurse. Tomorrow I go in search of a kit.

    Testing

I think I'm a total wimp. The thought of the testing really freaks me out, but I know I have to do it and it's for my own good, so I need to grow up. Several ops and injuries over the years, so why does this freak me? How daft. Thanks for the monitor info.

    Is This Normal?

I actually likened it to the menopause yesterday.

    Testing

Thank you for all the support and advice. I'm spending the weekend doing my diabetes homework, finding a tester, finding recipes and obviously lots of exercise, which I do anyway. Well done to everyone who is managing their diabetes. It's been a bit of a shock but think I'm coming to terms...

    Managing Diabetes And Work

I'm also veggie and was diagnosed T2 a couple of weeks ago. I'm struggling to know what I can eat, so this thread has been helpful. I too am feeling totally shattered and struggling to do a full days work. Good luck Brie, hope you're soon feeling better.

    Heart Rate

That's interesting. I've always been aware of feeling and hearing my heartbeat, but since starting Metformin a couple of weeks ago I now rarely do, it feels most odd but hopefully it's good. Hope you find the answer Marcus.

    Testing

Thanks Guzzler, I will check that out as I am definitely struggling with what I can/can't eat. There was I thinking I was quite good

    Is This Normal?

Thanks Dee. I have very mild asthma so that could be it. I seem to feel better at home than at work. When I see dr or nurse, I'll ask about the asthma. Hope you manage to keep yours under control.

    Desmond

The first session I could get on is 25 miles away, and not for another 8 weeks, so that's 10 weeks since diagnosed. I think by then, with the help of this site, I will likely have the answers to most or my queries. I hope that one day I'll be one of those giving advice too.

    Testing

I certainly am not offended, only grateful. I didn't realise beetroot was high in carbs! I guess I realised the others weren't as good as I might be eating, but thought I was being fairly good. I have an egg and soya allergy so struggle with food anyway. Perhaps I should have been a snail and...

    Is This Normal?

Thank you Pipp. Tum is ok so far thank goodness, so loo visits ok too. I'm careful to take the tablet half way through my meal, with a big glass of water.

    Testing

Thank you. Maybe I need to pester dr for a testing kit then. I'm a vegetarian without a cause. Breakfast=muesli with fruit juice as I don't like milk, a chopped nectarine on top and hot water to drink. Mid morning = cereal bar or satsuma. Lunch is either salad of 5 cherry tomatoes, celery...

    Testing

Ive seen many of you talking about testing before and after meals. My dr just gave me a prescription for Metformin but didn't mention testing or what were good or bad foods. My day long appointment with the consultant is mid August. Should I be testing? When? How? Sorry to sound so naive. I'd...

    Is This Normal?

Im newly diagnosed and have been on Metformin 12 days. I keep having hot, clammy spells which don't last too long, but I feel most of the time like I can't breathe properly. Has anyone else felt like this at the start of the medication? I have lost a little weight and am working hard to eat...

    Just Diagnosed Type 2

Just been diagnosed last week, given prescription and told I will see a nurse in due course and they'll answer questions and talk about diet, foot care etc. It's been a scary week. Still no news of when I get to see the nurse. Is this normal? If so it needs to change and fast. Not good to give...
