    Hair loss for a woman

    Thank you - that’s reassuring

    Carbs & Cals app

It is a lot but I am hoping will only be needed for a few months until I get the hang of what I should & shouldn’t be eating. There is a much cheaper alternative with the book (suggested by the nutritionist & dietitian) but I found the app much more convenient. Am saving £7+ a month on biscuits...

    Pasta to live and love

    Pasta to live and love

Ah certainly less stressed as on holiday. Walking a bit more but not hugely but it is very hot so I guess expending a lot more energy. It is taking a lot less to bring my BG down. I obviously need to live in Italy full time!

    Pasta to live and love

New T2 here. Usually I can hardly look at pasta without shooting up but out in Italy (impossibly hot) at mo. & fresh pasta with veg toppings fine! Why????

I have been to see the Diabetes Nurse Today

I really hope it is making life easier for and thank you for your inspiring post. I have my bld test end of September & it’s great to have a reminder to keep on the straight & narrow.

    Type 1 Scan error

Oh I am sorry- they were helpful to me, very odd. I’m sure they meant the Bluetooth on the LibeeLink app not the main Bluetooth. I now have the LL Bluetooth off & use Shuggah (Bluetooth on) which also appears on my Apple Watch so easy to track without getting my phone out all the time. I should...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

5.6 this morning [emoji322] I am on holiday in Italy and this was after an evening of pizza & red wine when my levels went from 6.4 to 7.6! There is no logic to this at all!

    Travelling and testing

I also took a letter from the GP - only needed it once for getting back into the UK. The surgery charged £25.

freeStyle Libre - thinking of giving it a go

*0.4 not 0.2 There again I did two consecutive blood tests yesterday & got 6.3 & 6.8 with Libre showing 6.5 … I am more Interested in is it going high or low & how fast & going outside my “green zone” than absolute figures with tight tolerances.

freeStyle Libre - thinking of giving it a go

I’ve found it really useful at spotting what spikes me (any bread unfortunately, bananas) & what doesn’t (pasta , apples) also the effect of food combinations & activity. The readings in my case are pretty accurate (within 0.2ish) IF I am stable. If I’m going up or down they are not - the...

    Type 1 Scan error

If you phone Abbott they are very helpful. They talked me through my (different) scan error & have replaced the sensor.

    Travelling and testing

I recently traveled with Ryanair with only hand luggage. You can take a separate bag for “medical equipment” with all airlines - they were fine about it & I was able to put this bag (which also had snacks, my book etc etc in) under the seat in front & my rucksack in the overhead locker for no...

    Blood Glucose Monitoring Watch

I read up on this & they aren’t accurate (just measuring blood flow/colour). I’m using Frestyle Libre 2 (£50 for 14 days sensor) which I pair with my Apple Watch through an app called Shuggah which also gives you a useful direction of travel (going up/down/steady)It’s a game changer & the Libre...

    Carbs & Cals app

Hi Becca I’m using this after being recommended by the nutritionist. Not very keen on the £7 a month but I find the app easy to use & tracks what I want it too. I like the add your own recipes. The bar code reader is useful but not comprehensive- not for the food I eat anyway. The portion size...

    Hair loss for a woman

Hi I’m also suffering hair loss/ thinning. Newly diagnosed T2 - a month now & on low ch diet - but 130gms so not very low. I’m on Gliclazide & Sitagliptin & was advised diabetic drugs can block Vit B12receptors so taking 1000mg (I tend to be low Vit B anyway - aged 60). I was through the...
