    Quick Hypo Snack

I have Jelly Babies in my car and Dolly Mixtures by my bed. As long as the packets are unopened I'm OK.. Actually they're the same packets I put there when I was diagnosed in 2012 - perhaps I should check they're still alright...

    Needles

I use a Novamix30 pen. Originally prescribed with 6mm needles, my DN reduced that to 4mm. They are also very thin. I don't feel the injections really at all - occasionally one of the testing pricks stings a finger, but it's quite rare. J.

    Sharps Bin

I'm T2 on insulin and the sharps bins are on my repeat prescription (ie from GP). For disposal I have to take them to a local Health Centre. J.

I'm not happy I don't want to have diabetes

Breakfast isn't a problem.. We have scrambled eggs; coddled eggs; omelette; boiled eggs; fried eggs; poached eggs and bran flakes. Eggs are binding :-) J.

    What's your number?

Possibly chicken curry bad too.. It's just the sort of thing they'd stuff full of sugar... What does the nutritional info say on the side of the tin Ally? The Carbohydrates figure... J.

    Live longer with metformin??

Sounds to me like Metformin doesn't actually make you live longer - it just feels like it... J.

    Type 1 Carb counting

Hi Sarah, I'm sure a T1 will be along soon to help with your levels and such. I'm type 2, but I count carbs. Basically eat meat, beefburgers, bacon, eggs without a thought. I avoid bread when we're out so the only real problem is potatoes or rice. When we're out I carry a small Samsung camera...

    Detached from reality

Nick Clegg's a pilchard. The LibDems came out of the last election with fewer MPs than they had the election before. I'd have thought he should have been too embarrassed to accept the position. I enjoyed the reports of elevations to the peerage this week - which got a bit lost under 'No UKIP...

    Newly diagnosed

Why is Bergen much better Annie? According to my rough notes (which can be wrong, for instance I spell Bergen, Burgen) a Bergen (400g loaf) per slice has 12g carbs of which 2.4g are sugars; 4.4g fat of which sats are 0.6g. Morisson's 400g wholemeal per slice - 11g carbs of which 0.8g are sugars...

Fun - Getting the most out of life

Jack of all trades... The only thing I'm really good at is getting older. I can do that to Olympic standards.. When we had real motorbikes I recall sitting astride an Arial square four. Most of the lads had Triumph Tiger Cubs 200cc - then in the early 60s a Honda 125 arrived on the scene and...

    First Results Since Diagnosis !

Ah Rico.. We've spent the day at hospital today, my wife has kidney function problems. During one interlude, when they were trying to fill the Rottweiler with iron (she's gone aenemic - however you spell it) I turned to the male nurse who was passing the time of day and announced that I could...

Diagnosed as Type 2 in May

Hi Mark, We're all different. My metabolism seems really slow to me, so after initial disappointments I only test before meals - try to keep the main meals in a four hour slot of each other so I suppose I'm testing 4 hours after :-). I think the regularity, day in, day out lets me draw more...
