    pre-diabetes, fasting blood sugars.

Hahaha likewise. I seem to only be able to achieve low numbers by eating nothing at all! Although I'm completely unstable, will be 4.1 one day followed by 6.9 the next, then 5.8. Did I read someone on here suggest a carb fest to kick it a big kick and shock then back to low carb. Might work?

    New to prediabetes

Hi- I'd recommend a CGM - libre freestyle which you can activate with your phone app. You don't need a reader. I am in the same position as you although labelled insulin resistant but since using the CGM my results would be classed as pre-diabetic. Morning Fasting BG can be as high as 7. The...

Why won't the NHS tell you the secret to treating diabetes?

Check out this guy - everything he says makes sense and he's about the only Dr I trust, apart from my amazing endo! https://drmalcolmkendrick.org/?s=diabetes

Conflicting data on 'type' & foods

Thanks Rosemaree - thanks so much for you reply. I am very similar to you in terms of being veggie now plant based. I have become less plant based in the past few weeks since being told I'm insulin resistant and low in iron etc. but have to say I'm not a huge meat eater and never was. I don't...

Extremely confused - Insulin Resistant PCOS been given medication

Thanks Lamont. I will persist. I remember you saying you are reactive aren't you? I'm wondering if I may also be the same. I love data so will do some serious food diary keeping (which I hate) then crunching of numbers (which I love). Hope you're doing OK and taking things easy and being...

Extremely confused - Insulin Resistant PCOS been given medication

Yeah the PCOS is a real pain in the butt. I think I will have to go hard go super low carb, no root veggies etc. Well done on such a massive weight loss and keeping it off, that's the tricky part. I think I'm just in a slump. Was all gung ho after he diagnosis, was actually relieved I wasn't a...

    A six-month update

Loved reading your post especially as I opened the chocolate orange I'd planned to put in my OH stocking - it's now hiding under the bed :) I know exactly what you mean about biology not following the rules. I've loved seeing the weight come off, feeling better, no hunger pangs etc on the low...

Extremely confused - Insulin Resistant PCOS been given medication

I've dug out my old BS monitor and started testing these past few weeks. Can anyone shed any light on what's going on? I am peaking between 30-60 mins eating low carb getting a reading of 9.5/ 10 then it starts to come down. Other times I will go from 5.6 to 8.4 but then stay around 7.8 for 3 to...

Conflicting data on 'type' & foods

Hi Nosgirl, I'm the same, newly diagnosed but only as insulin resistant, but I suspect that may change. I've found this site so helpful and everyone is so generous with their knowledge. I've been finger prick testing but have just bought a couple of libres CGM. My blood sugar is all over the...

    Reversing diabetes

I've really enjoyed reading all the posts in this thread and totally understood what you meant from your first post. I've no answer as I'm just starting out on this journey but I think it's possible, with maybe a whole food plant based diet. At the moment I'm so ****** confused. I read low carb/...

Oh Lamont, my heart is breaking for you. Really I have no words to say as you're being dealt blow after blow after blow. Why is it always the good guys that bad things happen to? I'm guessing you have broad shoulders and a huge heart as your experiences would crush a lesser man. I was...

    Update: fat adapted and stable.

Thanks Lamont - yes, just seen that. Getting to grips with how to reply, like posts etc. On my walk this morning I decided I was going to do IF 10-5/6 and see how that goes then shorten the eating part if I need to. Only issue I'm finding now is that as you said, no carbs no hypo but for me, my...

Extremely confused - Insulin Resistant PCOS been given medication

It's absolutely bonkers isn't it. And it takes so much effort to fight against a system that we assume is trying to help us but actually seems designed to make us fail.

Hi Lamont, How are things? Just been reading through your posts and you're amazing. It's rubbish when life takes over and throws you a curve ball but you're doing so well by the sound of things. Depression is rubbish. Having had both post natal depression and regular, it's so hard to deal with...

Is this RH and if yes, is keto diet the only option?

Hi Silkki, How have you been? Reading your first post was like reading about myself. Hope you managed to persuade a Doc to take you seriously. When I told my doc that I was testing blood sugar and it was high (10.5/11mmol) I was asked why I was doing that and told to stop. Cheers, D

    Update: fat adapted and stable.

Yay - well done.. Sounds as though it's been tough but well done on sticking through it. I'm new to all this so learning from everything that everyone is posting. You mentioned IF, I've been doing that for a while and am trying to continue -but can I ask, during the 8hr period of eating how long...

Hi Guys, Thank you ALL so much for your responses. I didn't realise how much all this has thrown me until I read your lovely, helpful posts. Knowing I AM going to be OK and I am in control is so useful to remember. Jo - I'm taking your advice and keeping on checking out the heart as I think...
