    No spike after a PB&J

Thanks. I wasn't sure about the Metformin and how that would affect in this situation. I keep thinking I have things straight in my head and then confuse myself. All a learning curve :)

    No spike after a PB&J

Yes, see I knew that I think I'm just getting excited at the thought of being able to have something I used to love, and thought I'd have to eliminate, without it affecting me too much. I will be checking at the 2 hour mark when it comes round!

    No spike after a PB&J

I will do in an hour when it has been 2 hours. I just thought I would spike instantly with it, I'm still learning and feel I might be a bit lost without this forum :)

    No spike after a PB&J

So It is that time of the month and I just really needed something sweet (dark chocolate wasn't going to cut it this time) so I made a peanut butter and jam sandwich using 1 slice of wholemeal & rye bread, peanut butter which no added sugars, and a low sugar jam and had it with a coffee with...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Mine was 109 in October, having it done again in January so I'm hoping for a reduction. Well done in what you've been doing, it's not easy! I hope it reflects in your next set of numbers :)

    berberine with effexor and wellbutrin

I would definitely check as I don't know about all your medications, I am on metformin and take berberine aswell without issue. My doctor did a Google search because he'd never heard about berberine and then just said "I'm sure it's fine" lol but it has been so far!

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

For the first time I was in the 6's yesterday, super happy with that! I feel I've been indulging a bit recently however it has been with dark chocolate and homemade low sugar stuff so maybe thats been OK. I had a square of my partners galaxy chocolate and found it disgusting! Crazy how the taste...

Newly Diagnosed (Scotland) and Overwhelmed :-(

I completely understand your overwhelm, don't try to tackle everything at once start with just looking to lower your carbs/sugars by reading packaging and trying to swap certain things for lower carb/low sugar alternatives. And make sure you're not making yourself miserable because that can...

    That's good to know, thanks!

    Any recommendations

I've asked for things I enjoy that I can indulge in a little bit (still in moderation) without it being detrimental to my health such as pork scratchings, a good really dark chocolate, and dry red wine so if there's non-carb-heavy savoury snacks he enjoys then definitely something like that or a...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

7.5. I seem to be trending in the 7's most days which I'm happy about given I was at 13-16's just a few weeks ago but I'm not sure how to keep it going down now. There's not much more I can do food wise without losing the will to live but I do need to up my exercise so hopefully that will be the...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Turkey steak, cottage cheese, rocket, cucumber, plum tomato, 1 sourdough crumpet - I don't normally have the crumpet but I've checked my bloods a couple of hours after and we are all good :) For dinner tonight I'm planning a burger with large flat mushrooms as the bread bun and maybe...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I hope metformin works for you, I started 2 weeks ago and my bloods are gradually coming down, I haven't had any side effects with it at all. Though being away for a few days, eating more carbs than usual, snacking at 3am last night and then only having 3 hours sleep has set me up for a 9.8 this...

    Autism/ADHD/neurodivergence in general

@JoKalsbeek A lot of us have been misdiagnosed but what's important is that we know who we are and learn to understand ourselves. No one else matters. I've had a slight crash recently, quit my job and only now am I tentatively trying to get back into it as unfortunately bills need to be paid...

    Autism/ADHD/neurodivergence in general

Exactly this! I'm trying to keep it all a bit of a novelty so I keep going with it and don't give up. I'm not the best at caring about myself which makes it a challenge sometimes. I have been getting a bit obsessed about the numbers and upset that things aren't sorting themselves quick enough...

    Autism/ADHD/neurodivergence in general

I know everyone can struggle with managing their diabetes I just wanted to open a thread to see how other neurodivergents were managing given there can be other struggles involved such as executive dysfunction and food sensitivities. I am autistic/adhd and I'm actually surprised at how well I...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

7.3 lowest it has been since I started testing a week ago so I'm happy. Still slowly coming down. I had emotions last night thinking I wasn't doing enough so to see progress today is encouraging.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Someone has just said the fruit teas spike their blood sugar due to just tasting a bit sweet so maybe check that incase that happens to you too but if not you should definitely give them a try.
