blood sugar is coming right down thank goodness

Yay! Glad you’ve been sticking with it and seeing the difference in results!

    Disappointing Evening

I'm really confused by all this, as so far, I haven't met anyone in real life who has not been supportive of me following a low carb way of eating as a way to combat this. Friends have been happy to accept what I'm doing and generally know the relationship between carbs/sugar or just don't query...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

7.6 this morning, which was pleasant surprise as I had my HBA1C two days ago and may have broken out the Christmas Lebkuchen biscuits last night as a post-blood test treat, so I was expecting much worse this morning. (And wow... that icing is ridiculously sweet...!)

    Confused

I am in the 'high risk' factors or at least those that are listed now, as I had gestational diabetes at age 30, and more importantly am half-South Asian descent. My mother and my aunt (fully South Asian descent) were stick thin (I'm thinnish, but the stick bit wouldn't apply...) both developed...

    Confused

I am jealous of your 27.5 mins for 5K - I have consistently (four times now) given up at various stages of Couch to 5K before I've even found out what my 5K time might have been! But, in other respects we are quite similar - not fitting general stereotypes for T2 - as I hovered around those...

should i check my blood sugar after walking ?

I'm glad numbers are down and not up. It's all good progress. Just wanted to say - hang in there and you're doing great. Absolutely everyone here started from somewhere and learned and (re)learned what worked and didn't work for them.

    Type 2 Diagnosed prediabetic,and struggling

Welcome to the forum - and yes, quite a lot of us have had that same lost feeling. I am also quite slim and had no need to lose weight but found myself losing weight when I chenged my eating habits (and I have no excuse as I had been taught a lot of good strategies by a nutritionist 10 years...

    Hi fellow diabetes!

Hi! As you are new on this forum, though not new to T2, I'm tagging @daisy1 for her very helpful welcome info, which is always a useful refresher for the basics about diabetes. I am T2, not on meds, but diet controlled. I have managed to keep my blood glucose levels "just" in prediabetes...

    Type 2 HBA1c

Congratulations - that’s well worth celebrating! Massive progress on your journey.

    Low Carb Question

I wasn't low carbing to lose any weight, although I lost a tiny (like a few lbs) bit of weight. But apparently I lost it entirely from my fingers and toes as my feet and hands are constantly cold now AND my wedding ring has fallen off so many times in the past few months that I'm not wearing...

SD Code Free Strips Batch no. S0318075.

Thanks @Rachox ! I have tubs of this batch of strips only so nothing to compare against, and have my HBA1C test coming up in two days, so you've just answered my related question, which was: What kind of difference in readings have people been getting on the rogue strips compared to others? I...

    Its not always about weight

There are indeed some of us on this forum who are type 2 and don’t conform to the stereotype. I had a HBA1C of 89 at diagnosis and similar BMI to yours. I’m 5ft 0” so was 8st 3-6lbs then. In my case, I have not been on any meds and lowered my HBA1C to 76 by increasing exercise alone and not...

    Meter Problem HELP...dodgy meter(s) ? ?

Well, phooey. I have that dreaded batch number too. But I've been fairly pleased with its readings so far. Or so I thought. Maybe that means I should be even more pleased...?! (I'm fairly sure the ginormous jump in numbers from eating salt and pepper prawns and some prawn crackers from the...

    Self testing readings. Recently diagnosed.

Well done with your amazing progress! Echoing everyone else - I'm type 2, no meds, and I self-test. To find out what foods work/don't work, and hopefully get a surprise along the way. So far, the only real surprise is that I can eat a bag of crisps and as long as I go on a brisk walk...

    Extreme Tiredness

I was regularly sleeping 10+ hours every night when I had high blood sugars, and embarrassingly would fall asleep on the sofa around 9pm. Which I don't think you're allowed to do as a 'normal' person until you're a bit older than I am. I had no idea I had high sugars - I thought the sleepiness...

    Frequency for Hbalc ...

My previous diabetic nurse seemed content to let me hover in prediabetic levels at a time when I wasn’t self-testing. Any time I went slightly over 48 I was put on 3-monthly tests and told to do something. But any time I was under (like even 1 point under), I got moved again to yearly tests...

Not impressed with reduction in hbac :(

Same question from me as Bluetit - do you test at the 2-hr mark? It's possible levels might still be rising between 1 and 2 hours and you've just stated 1 hour readings. I'd be surprised by those results too as I'm also diet only, no medication, type 2 but was tested for type 1, and my general...

What's the biggest glucose spike you've had?

Urm...21. Two hours after three bowls of Special K. Had without milk because I knew milk spiked me ;) I don’t remember what I started from but it wasn’t astronomically high - maybe 7 or 8. I tested like three times and washed hands in between because I’d never seen my meter go that high. I...

Over the moon - my first 6-month review.

Llongyfarchiadau! (I think. I only live in Wales, and can only really sing Happy Birthday in Welsh, which is not relevant here.) That is a thrilling, inspiring result! Yay!
