    Pumping Saline

I have an animas vibe. I feel a slight stingy feeling when it is going in. What i found helps is to slow down the delivery rate on the pump. Probably your medtronic can do the same. I have also found in the 6months I have had it the stinging effect is less now so maybe the body gets used to it.

    Insulin Pump Training

I am approaching retirement age and been on pump about 6 months now after 50 yrs on mdi. I don't want to go back to injections. It's not a cure, but for many a better way of life. Try one if you have the chance. If you don't you will never know.

    Dexcom sensor life .

Thanks for your help. I left my last one on for a further 2 weeks but only got about 4hours usefull use. I sometimes find drinking water helps but not for long. I did'nt really want to go to the expense of x drip as I have spent £250 and not got much use out of it. I did take the transmitter off...

    Dexcom sensor life .

I am thinking the sensor measures the fluid when it goes into the sensor via the tube that goes into you and by putting it on an arm it could be downhill. Is this corrcct. thankyou for a reply...

    Dexcom sensor life .

I have recently had a Dexcom and am using it with an animas pump. But the sensor life has been dissapointing. 13 days,12 days , 8 days. and yet I have not knocked them, got them wet or have them come loose. The last one I had a wide bandage over with a hole in and lasted just 8 days. I even left...

    Freestyle libre reliability

I found sometimes the sensors are ok and sometimes not so good. I now sometimes use a dexcom which is very accurate. But unfortunately mine only seems to last 8 or 9 days. Yet I have read of others getting them to average much longer

Insulin pumps. Still researching but..don't get it

the first time I went into a cafe and ate a meal using a pump. I simply put the amount of carbs in the pump pressed go. I was then in tears of joy. I could not believe how simple and easy it was. after 50yrs of MDI.

Why would you recommend your diabetes clinic?

when I first went to see my DSN sent by my gp, I was not happy with the DSN approach. Yet now I am totally happy and am confident she knows her stuff. I think you have to stay with it for quite a long time and eventually you will have success. Have confidence in your DSN. Lets face it it is...

    Confused

the problem with all foods is that they have a glycemic index. ie. they are absorbed at different rates. That's why a pump has a combo bolus function which adjusts the speed of insulin going into the body. When I was on MDI I used to adjust the time of bolusing to some extent to allow this to...

    New to pump-insertion set challenge

try not to get too stressed. I have only been pumping for about 4 months and now I change set easily. When I first started though it is stressfull. I sometimes take quite a while to bring a high sugar down, yet sometimes it does'nt. With me corrections are more difficult to get down if basal is...

    Dexcom CGM

I removed my first sensor last week. It lasted 12 day's despite it bening very securely attached and I had not got it wet. so I am a bit dissapointed at that. But it was very accurate for 11 day's. However if it does not last longer I will not use it unless I am in need due to awkward basal...

    Dexcom g4 sensor life

Thanks all for your help. I drank some water and now everything ok. Been working well today. So far it is accuate usually within 0.3mmol to my blood meter. Hope it continues to function for a while. I like the alarms it does when going low or high as it gives a bit of warning on my Animas pump.

    Dexcom g4 sensor life

thanks for those replys. I am on an tablet called bendroflumethiazide which I was told cuts down the fluids in my body (this was supposed to improve my blood pressure). However dexcom worked good for 10 day's.I am now noticing it comes back on occasionally for a few minutes. I did look at...

Hi Good to see you are asking questions such as this. Azure above has answered your questions. I also have been wearing mine in a pump pouch. However recently I have stopped doing this and just clip it with the supplied clip to the pocket of my jeans. I now have a Dexcom cgm on trial which...

    Temp Basal Rates

basal rates can take longer than the 30mins to take effect. You might try increasing the before ride time probably even 90 mins. you could increase the before cycle ride time a bit at a time.

For me though I combo bolus having 80% up front ,.with the remainder over 30 mins but if I am a little on the low side .60 minutes...
