    Out of control !

Jim, so nice to read you are getting your numbers down, it is amazing isn't it! Keep up the good work. I was fortunate to find this website when only prediabetic and thank my lucky stars I did so!

    Hi, another newbie...

Well done, that's a really good start. So keep up the good work, it might also be a good idea to test before and after eating to see how different foods affect your bg. I am only pre diabetic and I had a normal bmi at diagnosis but my bmi is now 19 and my readings have improved with the extra...

FOR FEMALES CAN YOU ADVISE ME

I'm sorry I don't know about your sugar levels, however I had intermittent bleeding/heavy periods and v was referred very quickly to a gyneacologist for an endometrial biopsy and a histoscopy, all ok. So ask for a referral if you get no answers from gp.

    Spike

It would not be ok for me I endeavour to keep n within non diabetic levels so 7.8 1 hour after eating for me to avoid diabetic complications. I suspect rice may be the cause, try testing without rice.

    Chickpeas and lentils

I tried a small portion of chilli with no rice just a few kidney beans in it and my bg went into double figures and I am only pre diabetic, to be honest not tried since although I used to love chick peas and lentils. For camping I would take nuts, 90% chocolate, nature valley protein bars are...

    Really struggling. Type2

You can sort this out, have you got a blood glucose monitor, I have and I really needed it to sort out my prediabetes, without it I have no doubt I would have gone on to full blown diabetes. I tested everything I eat at the beginning, I found low carb reduced my readings to normal levels.I now...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Do you know that is a good point but I do wonder how accurate the carb readings are. With yoghurt I pay a fortune for the total greek 0% fat yoghurt as it is the lowest carb zero fat yoghurt I can find, but I do wonder! I did see a programme a few years ago which tested things and most of the...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I have building work at the moment so no kitchen and I am sorry to say my daily breakfast is 2 pieces of 90% chocolate and a mug of unsweetened soya milk. Lunch is half a raw pepper, half an avocado, and some walnuts mixed in the a small teaspoon of xylitol, small teaspoon of cocoa and a bit of...

    A Month Into Low Carbing

What Andbreathe said! When I joined the forum it was just low carb, not high fat. I only increased the fats to stop the weight loss. And only the 'healthy' fats at that.

    Touring Devon & Cornwall

Trevedra Farm, this place has a tremendous setting a short (but steep) walk to the most amazing unspoilt surfing beach right on the far end of cornwall. Not the best best campsite ever but the setting and beach are amazing. The beach is Gwenver, google it. Edited to add sorry about the big...

Medications, side-effects and a GP that doesn't help

That doesn't sound a lot of carbs, however do you test for example when I was first diagnosed I couldn't eat Carby veg such as peas or carrots without my bg going too high. Also I found it better to less frequently as otherwise my bg never went down enough between meals.

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Morning 5.9 for me, bit high but curry out last night, no rice but did have some poppadoms, garlic naan and a baileys! So not bad, however I am pre diabetic, my last hba1c was 32 but still shows I am not 'cured'.

Medications, side-effects and a GP that doesn't help

I am only pre diabetic but I found my bg readings shot up if I eat bread what are you eating in a typical day? Have you a meter, if not you must get one. Then test before and after eating too see what increases your blood sugar. I found it was carbs that increased my bg even low gi ones like...

    could i be diabetic?

I am confused in this study they are quoting 2 hr OGTT levels below 140 as normal, and fasting as up to 99 as normal, that contradicts what you were saying surely. You said fasting levels should be reached 2 hours after a meal.

    The SCREAM thread

Thank you for asking feeling a lot better about things now.

    could i be diabetic?

I didn't realise two hours you should be back to fasting level.
