Hi, I was like you in that my BMI was normal and I was diagnosed pre diabetic. I decided to low carb, which I did extremely strictly and my BG levels slowly went to normal. I bought a meter as you have very sensibly done and tested what sent my BG up, you will be surprised at some of the...

thin fit prediabetic - is there hope?

Well as per my previous post my symptons were as stated, and they stopped once I addressed my high sugar levels. I can't speak for other people. My GP considers me absolutely normal as far as pre diabetes in that my blood tests show no sign. But I know if I eat unwisely I could slip back! With...

thin fit prediabetic - is there hope?

Hi cheesejunkie, I was in your position a few years ago, however my BMI was under 25 but not as low as yours. I was devestated as I eat healthily, exercised and have watched my weight all my life, being slim was an effort for me! And I take my mum to all her hospital appointments for a myriad...

Something the Dr's dont tell you... VERY important.

Sorry to hear about your father. I hope he continues to make a full recovery. However I have read somewhere that silent heart attacks affect diabetics because their nerves have been damaged that give pain signals, and they have been damaged due to diabetes, not the drugs they take. I don't...

One year on from more fat

@donnellysdogs, I had exactly the same thing happen to me when I first low carbed, my trigs still good but not as good as before and my ldl levels higher. Not got time to read whole thread but wanted to say I was similarly worried, so what I did was to keep all my fats healthy, fish, avocadoes...

Please help with letter for holiday diet!

Just wanted to follow up to say that the chalet company I went with bent over backwards to cater for my diet, and the food was delicious! The company was Colletts and I would highly recommend them, in fact some of the low carb replacements I had caused envious glances from the other guests!

Question for those who have used low carbs for more than 5 years and have maintained their weigh

Looking back I joined this forum dec 2008 after being diagnosed pre diabetic, so nearly 6 years low carbing! I was a bit disadvantaged as I had a normal Bmi so no opportunity to lose weight and resolve my problem. I have to confess at being gutted at the diagnosis as I worked hard keeping my...

Thanks for your reply, I really value the help as I only want to write one email, not keep perstering them with things I have forgotten! Warning - I need to talk about poo

I had this problem when I first started low carbing, as I used to eat loads of porridge, brown rice etc., previously. Got things back on an even keel by having a very large salad for lunch, with a side of nuts. Then whatever my evening meal is I will have a massive portion of veg to replace the...
