    Help! Which diet?

True, I wasn't overweight, but still had to lose weight to get rid of the belly fat. It's the deeper fat - called "visceral" fat - that may be the bigger problem, even for thin people. Supposedly it's worse being skinny-fat than overweight! Anyway, I'm in the South Pacific where 80% of the...

    Help! Which diet?

Welcome, Yes it can be very confusing. Seems like the first step is to lose weight, even if your not overweight. For most people carbs seems to be the problem as they turn into sugar and you'll want to avoid sugar. I'm not good with counting carbs, calories or anything like that, some people...

    pre-diabetes, fasting blood sugars.

That's very very good, I reckon having more muscle helps as well. I've only just started with the weight loss and diet and not really put much effort into exercise yet. Too hot here at the moment ;) I want to try out some weights and HIIT. Seems like both helps with the BG. But seriously, you're...

    pre-diabetes, fasting blood sugars.

6am 5.9, 7am 6.1, went for 30min walk with my puppy, no food, then 8am 5.8? My BG usually goes up after exercise. Definitely harder to eat to the meter in the weekends.

    pre-diabetes, fasting blood sugars.

It's very difficult to keep the same FBG every morning. For me, already skinny, no bellyfat anymore, I have had great results with relaxing the diet, eating more carbs, with fat and protein, and having dinner around 7.30pm, getting quite full, no evening snack. That's when my FBG is at the...

5.4 :) Had vegies as late night snack, fish for dinner, no carbs, no fat, slept in as well. Strange, but good :D

6.1 @ 7am "An elevated morning fbg shouldn’t be nearly as bad as a risk factor if it’s in isolation, it’s what happens over the full 24 hours that matters most" I think I'll cut down on testing FBG. Silly getting up at 6am just to prove I can have a great FBG ;)

    5.6 @ 6am 6.0 @7am For better FBG get up earlier!!

5.2, 5.8 and 5.7 Checked an "old" food diary. Same food that I used get 6.1 FBG now is 5.6. Definitely going in the right direction. Must be the loss of bellyfat :)

    pre-diabetes, fasting blood sugars.

I rapidly lost 10 kilos and are at 52.5kg now. Everyone says, don't lose anymore weight, like I'm trying to do that!! A few extra nuts just didn't do it for me. Now I'm going to experiment with bigger meals. I do spike to 8.1 but my husband, who isn't prediabetic does that as well. My BFG is...

Interesting, I've also noticed that when I have bigger meals, I don't count carbs, my FBG is lower than when I try to keep my spikes really low. Maybe some people need a bit of carbs??

That's very low, I've only been in the 4's once since being diagnosed. Well done :)
