I will eat as much fat as I want!!!

I have to agree that we are talking about unknown quantities of fat but I find some people's ways of expressing themselves open to misinterpretation and, therefore, having a distinct possibility of misleading. A statement such as the title of this thread could be seen by some as meaning I will...

I was part of a lengthy international piece of research called the ASCOT study. The statin arm of the study was terminated before it was due for ethical reasons. The findings of protection against cardiac events were so positive that it was no longer ethical to keep those who were not on a...

Are you sure that the Diet Doctor is pointing you to all the science or just that which supports his ideas? It is amazing how persuasive a charismatic character can be. Remember the MMR doctor - now struck-off. An interesting look at the Diet Doctor and science...

If Cholesterol is in part causing arterial plaques then I would rather have it low than high. I have been on a statin since taking part in the ASCOT study, have low cholesterol and no plaques.

True that you can find all sorts of information. My arteries are free from plaques (cardiac MRIs and ultrasounds during some cardiac research) and I want to keep it that way. If you had read the link you posted that even the researchers acknowledged the inadequacies of their research!

I was referring to the ND as practised by members of the forum. Sorry for not making that clear. The combo of ND and LCHF seemed to work for a number of forum members.

Not from a book that is making someone rich but: "Atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries, is a condition in which plaque builds up inside the arteries. Plaque is made of cholesterol, fatty substances, cellular waste products, calcium and fibrin (a clotting material in the blood)...

I agree with you. There is a need, however, when you are dealing with health issues, not to make unfounded statements. A lot of people are looking for advice or learning.

Please do your research before you hit the keyboard. Good foods like olives and avocados have polyunsaturated fat in them and are not unhealthy man made rubbish.

I agree that not all diabetics are overweight but many are. For a lot of diabetics losing weight will increase insulin sensitivity and also lead to reduced BP and better results for the other issues of metabolic syndrome.

LCHF was, following The Newcastle research, the follow-on diet from the severe calorie restriction for 8 weeks. It was the severe calorie restriction that was found to bring about the remission/medication reduction. You state that in taking in fewer carbs you need to have more fat in your diet...

The LCHF diet is not about eating kilos of fat of any description. The Newcastle research was about calorie restriction.

Happy days. For me it was in the 70s as a short term benefits supervisor, Local Insurance Officer and NI Inspector and in the 80s as an Assistant Manager.

@Roscoewalford people who are Type 2 and taking medication are considered to be disabled within the meaning of the Equality Act. A good place for advice and support is the Disabled Police Association. I was a member of, and supported the work of, the Met association when I was an officer of...

    ESA refused

You certainly do get credits to assist with your pension if you qualify for ESA on medical grounds but cannot get benefit because of the contribution tests or the income tests. If you are getting payments from your own sickness insurance or are in receipt of a works pension that can also affect...
