Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

6.4.on Libre. My readings have gone up lately from 4 or 5 point something. . Stress?

Hi I’m julieclarke I’ve joined to find out more about T2 diabetes

I didn't know Lindt did 95% - at least not in UK. They do 85%, which I'll buy at a pinch, and I recall 100% - but not recently. Their 90% has considerably lower carb/sugar than say Waitrose own brand 90% and I find it quite tasty. Pricy these days, but not compared with Hotel Chocolat.

Hi I’m julieclarke I’ve joined to find out more about T2 diabetes

You mean 90% Lindt chocolate, surely. 2 squares with coffee after breakfast also my go-to. I was tempted by a Ritter dark chocolate hazelnut bar because it was on offer. Disaster.

    Dislike all food now

I was vegetarian/vegan for a long time and I get your point about it being high in staple carbs. Now I eat low carb, but still a lot vegetarian/vegan. I am so sorry you no longer enjoy cooking or eating and hope you can regain the pleasure. If you eat dairy, it's easy to get variety and...

Very Low Blood Sugars, Not Increasing With Carbs

Your chart shows American A1c measurements, not in mmol/mol, which would be 48 (or 6.5%) for diabetes, or 42 - 47 for pre- diabetes, and under 42 as normal. I am also confused by a diagnosis based on one result of 48 mmol/mol, the others lower, but you'll have to ask your endocrinologist to...

    C reactive protein and eyes

Not trying to compete but my crp after major surgery was 325.5 (unrelated to eyes). At latest bloods, it was 3.5. But now I do have rapid deterioration of my eyes. Ironic, because my diabetes is well controlled and my eyes were fine when it wasn't. Wishing you the best. @Helen40

    Libre 2

Hi @SuNuman, I'm also Type 2, using Libre (2+). I find it very useful for checking not only food but also stress and poor sleep, which I think are important factors. I can't get the hang of finger pricking, so my CGM is quite essential, but it would be good if you could check if your readings...

    Dapagliflozin

After I'd been on Dapagliflozin for some months, I developed terrible burning when I peed, lasted for months, tested negative for UTI. I didn't have any other thrush symptoms, but I asked to go off the dapa, and eventually GP agreed. Since I've been off it, my bowel movements became normal and...

Pag .causing bowel movement change ?

I was drinking plenty of water and still got very constipated. I can't understand why it has the opposite effect on @Ulebrun. Just gastrointestinal irritant? My GP worried my BG would go up when I came off it, but despite no change in diet, it doesn't seem to have.

Pag .causing bowel movement change ?

I only realised how constipating it was when I went off it.

    1 year post victrectomy

Both my eyes show deterioration despite improved BG and I have a hospital appointment for late October. So no tips I'm afraid, but lots of commiseration and good wishes.

Anyone having big reliability issues with Freestyle Libre 2 Plus sensors?

I just noticed your reply on A1c Libre estimates vs lab results. On the contrary, my lab results have been about 10-15% higher. My current Libre estimate is 36 mmol/mol, so even 15% higher would be a great result for me.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

4.5 on Libre, but I have highish rises, usually not above 10 but lasting 3-4 hours, even after low carb meals, so I'm not out of the woods.

My libre 3 showed a gmi of 5.7 over 90 days. I got my aic level last week and it came bsck at 7.2? How can that be?

I'm on Libre 2 plus. It generally gives a lower A1c estimate than my actual lab result, but I would be gutted if the discrepancy were greater than say one percent, like previously. Mine is currently showing 5.5%, so I expect 6.6%, like 2 months ago. If you're convinced it looks wrong, you can...

    Diabetic Retinopathy and Maculopathy

I agree that Jamie Oliver food is not healthy for a Type 2 diabetic, but my point was, his emphasis on natural foods is healthier for children than the junk their parents wanted to feed them when they complained about his meals. Not everyone who eats carbs develops insulin resistance. In...

Simple At-Home Test to Measure Your Visceral Fat (Zero Cost!)

I just today discovered this video by Nutrition Made Simple. For me, the greatest Aha! moment since I belatedly came upon the low carb regime. It answers a question I've been perplexed about: how to measure visceral fat without resorting to a Dexa scan or similar. It's excess visceral fat which...

    Diabetic Retinopathy and Maculopathy

Th Thank you. All those years, I thought I avoided side effects, but it seems, not so. I hadn't thought my diet was unhealthy - lots of fruit and veg, but also lots of bread, pasta, rice, etc. I was thin when I was diagnosed, and a vegetarian. You could have knocked me over with a feather...

    Chocolate

For milk chocolate lovers who are reducing their carbs, Sainsbury's has a sugar-free milk chocolate bar. I never tried it, but its dark equivalent is very good. Also, Marks and Spencer has a reduced sugar milk chocolate bar.

    HBA1C raised despite medication

The Diabetes Center may well be better suited for you. Meanwhile, you don't say - are you testing your glucose, either with a finger prick meter or a Continuous Glucose Monitor? It would be helpful to see your reaction to foods, especially carbs, and also stress, poor sleep, etc. You can get a...
