    Sugar Labelling

The sugar content is important, as the more of which sugars are in your carbohydrate, the more your blood sugars are going to take a beating for it... example, you may notice you spike quicker and higher, we however only take Insulin for the carbs listed. Checking out the of which sugars also...

How Do They Diagnose What Type Of Diabetes You Have?

It's not always clear cut, for me it was because my blood glucose reading was 28.6mmol/L and had the highest ketones in my urine and lost 4.5 stone in weight. My uncle only had the weight loss and no traceable ketones in urine so diagnosed as a type 2, even though he is type 1 now, 2 weeks...

    Dizzy spells

I could understand being 4.5 or below and feeling dizzy, even for a non diabetic. However have you ruled out vertigo? In terms of the dizziness, does it feel like the room is spinning and won't stop?

Why scientists so far can not find a comprehensive solution for diabetes

I assumed when diabetics die of other conditions it is determined that it could be related to Diabetes and that is linked and classed as death by diabetes or due to diabetes complications. Still, it is far less than cancer deaths. Yes you are very much correct, and it is common knowledge now...

Why scientists so far can not find a comprehensive solution for diabetes

While true, it's easy to remember why that is, more people die when diagosed with cancer than diabetes, and more people can live healthy lives with Diabetes. Cancer is also cureable ( Not all). I have no doubt there are more people " Living " with diabetes, than with cancer. Interesting fact...

Why scientists so far can not find a comprehensive solution for diabetes

Although cancer research is better funded, and this is most likely because more people have cancer than diabetes, Diabetes currently costs a lot more, exceeding $300 billion in the US alone. There are a lot of variables when it comes to curing a specific " thing ". Just think how many diseases...

Why scientists so far can not find a comprehensive solution for diabetes

Personally think it's a response from somewhere in the brain, maybe the hypothalamus region which controls hormone release. Not the full cause just part of it! Just my opinion :)

    Blood checking and driving

Regardless what type Diabetes you are, if you are on Insulin treatment longer than 3 months, I would recommend checking sugars before driving. By law you must not drive Hypo below 4 mmol/L and to do that you must check before driving and at regular intervals on long journeys. It is also...

Recently diagnosed Type 1 at 63

Generally we lose weight with the absence of insulin in the body leading upto type 1 diabetes, depending on how long onset is, once we start using Insulin again we start gaining weight, in most case, either way, good luck on your journey. Any questions ask as many as you need.

What do you wish people knew?

That is terrible, we know that type 2 isn't JUST down to weight, I hate the generalising publics opinion to it, however it isn't always their fault as most aren't educated on both types.
