Freestyle Libre 30-50 points low recurring problem

Cgm doesn’t work well for everyone. I don’t know why. I can say I struggled with it too. It didn’t work for me so I gave it up. If you think it’s just this sensor, and not every sensor, call Abbott and get it replaced. If this problem happens more than it doesn’t happen, you have to decide...

    TIR or Hba1c?

Here’s another question if you’re going to analyze tir. How big is your range? If the range is too big, that’s really not going to stear an a1c. You could be in the range, but plotting numbers all over the place. From the data above, 70 to 180 mg/dL is quite a big range. My own personal...

    TIR or Hba1c?

I think if you can plot enough data that you can predict a1c. I think tir is a good way to help a person steer towards controlling their a1c, but I’m not sure everyone can actually do it. Why can’t they? Emotions, food, commitment, social pressures, illness, failures,... and there are more...

    670G minimed pump, help please

I just plan on changing my every day. It is expensive. Somedays I’m fine leaving it in, and leaving it alone. Today I burned through 3 of them to find a spot that works. I was kind of excited when mm was going to offer pro sets. It had more than 1 opening. I thought this would help many...

    Type 1 Scary hypo dream

Diabetes and low blood sugar certainly teaches us humility. The art after the fall is how you pick yourself up afterwards. How we recover and plan to attempt to reduce it from happening again. You could basal test to see if your taking too much insulin. Cgm might be helpful. Many doing mdi...

Is it ok to cut back on testing?

I was given a Libre. I liked it. It allowed me to sleep through the night without crazy alarms from bad readings. But I fall into the group that cgm doesn’t work so well. On day 2 of it all of the readings went crazy. On day 3 it said I needed to change the sensor. I left it in through day...

CGM sensors - are they accurate?

Cgm works on interstitial fluid, which isn’t blood sugar. Don’t confuse the 2. For some cgm works great, and for others it’s not so good. Based on the discrepancy in the readings and how you were using it to attempt to predict a1c, maybe you’re not in the “it works great” group. At least try...

    670G minimed pump, help please

Here’s a pump mantra- when in doubt, change it out. It means when you can’t explain why your blood sugar is rising (assuming you have a good basal rate) change out the infusion set. It’s either occluded or kinked.

    670G minimed pump, help please

I’d agree that if things are going bad to default back to something you know how to do- like mdi. Pumps have a learning curve. Cannulas are the weakest link in pumping, and one of the last things that people choose with little or no prior experience. That’s kind of sad to me. And the...

Is it ok to cut back on testing?

I test a lot. The more I know, the more I know, and so I test. Based on my testing frequency, I can pretty much guess my a1c. I test almost 17x per day. It’s about 1x per hour, and then whenever I drive. It’s my routine and I use this manage hypoglycemic unawareness.

    Prevention/cure

The thing from novonordisk is a nice spin at positive marketing, but it’s not a cure. To me it’s just marketing.

    Diabetic gastrparesis

And yes, people can have gastroparesis without having diabetes. The conditions aren’t exclusive to each other.

    Diabetic gastrparesis

For type 1’s over time, it’s typical for the condition to affect the duodenum, and that slows digestion. But this depends on type of diabetes, the length of time you’ve had it, and if the duodenum has been affected. Now if you just looking to slow digestion, fatty cheeses will do that. Like...

    Hypo for child using pump

Maybe the child wasn’t comfortable And was out of their wits for the low. So maybe they wanted to get the blood sugar up before putting them back into the schools general population. The 4.3 isn’t that bad of a number, but maybe it was a false low and the child wasn’t used to a number like...

    Cannula stops working during use?

I know this is an old thread, but a cannula that stops working is called an occlusion. Sometimes the bend over and that’s called a kink, and sometimes the body just heals them closed. I had a friend show a picture of a rare double kink today from an Omnipod pump. I’d bet the cannula...

How do you deal with hypo’s at work and communicate them?

I don’t communicate the situation. I just eat a snack and take care of it. And, I test enough so that a low during work isn’t a problem. Testing to see what I’m doing helps avoid that.

How to get accurate results if you're unable to wash your hands prior to testing?

I stick my targeted finger in my mouth, and then wipe it on an article of clothing. Then call it good, and test.

    difficulties managing glucose level

But are you certain? Some meats cooked in some sauces aren’t carb free. If you’re relatively lo carb and you have to dose 4 units per meal, something isn’t right. Either with the meal, or your basal insulin rate. If there aren’t any carbs in the meal, you shouldn’t need any insulin, other...

    difficulties managing glucose level

Stress and hormones are factors in bs management! Becoming upset about why a number is so large might not help you regain control of that number due to the stress of it.

    difficulties managing glucose level

You are counting all of the carbs, right? Another issue might be injection spot scar tissue. That’s going to slow absorption rates. We all develop this over time, so w have to keep our injection spots moving.
