    Do you use steel canulas?

I use flexible cannulas. My sites sometimes bruise and bleed too. So I can’t say that those 2 issues are only exclusive to stainless steel cannulas.

    Cannula insertion site getting sore

Yes. Insulin can be extracted from a pod by sucking it out with the filler. I have cannula issues. I did use a pod once. Tubeless was neat, but site issues ended it as an option.

Graphic Content Epic bleeding from Cannula site anyone had this?

It’s amazing sometimes when these little tiny holes explode like blood volcanos. It’s a concern especially when wearing white! When we peel off an infusion set sticker into important to have something close by that can be grabbed quickly to absorb the mess.

    Tried this chocolate?.

You can’t accuse everyone of being bad. It’s not right. Someone can enjoy chocolate and not over-indulge in it.

    Diabetes. It never stops.

You have to know that when your emotions swing over something that’s not going right, that your blood sugar will swing too. Keep it calm, and just do your best. Understand that’s the best we can do, and that we aren’t perfect. One of the best things that we can do is learn from our mistakes...

Type 1 Steroids with a general anaesthetic

You’ve got to figure out if you can stop taking the steroid. For all of the crazy things I’ve done to my poor body and the recovery bits that I’ve had to do, I’ve learned to refuse the steroids. Your blood sugar has to be through the roof! Whoever prescribed the steroid, call them. See if...

    Testing alot

Hopefully you can get back on track. There’s no issues with testing a lot. I’m thinking it’s better to know, than to be ignorant and not know. Knowing will help you get back on track! And maybe seeing a doctor can get you some ideas that might help, like dosing advice, or maybe hardware...

I typically do not like posting links, but here’s one that I think this parent needs. It’s to the children with diabetes website. It’s largely for parents who have children with diabetes. They might find some resources there, and maybe get lucky enough to find people near them to show the...

    Advice on night time hypos

I’ll agree that unless this happens all the time, that one night is not a trend. One night of issues could be an absorption problem.

7 year old with type 1

I remember when I was a kid and went through the same thing. I didn’t like diabetes either. I didn’t choose it- it chose me. You’ve just got to let him know he’s not alone. There are others just like him. With the same feelings that he has. I’m a t1 too.

Is there a fear in the UK about being hypo unaware? I’m thinking maybe yes, but I don’t understand the rationale.

    Type 1 Hypo awareness// support// struggle [emoji25]

I’m wondering if the problem is that now you’re seeing the lows. If you didn’t use the Libre and couldn’t check as rapidly, would you know? If you didn’t know, would you react differently? Makes me flashback to the first time I checked my blood sugar the moment I realized I was hypo unaware...

    Tried this chocolate?.

I’m thinking we were just told we can’t have something. Something like chocolate. Chocolate is a food, and not a drug. If we can carb count it then we can dose for it, and we can eat it. I’m not seeing a problem with eating food, especially if we know how to handle it. Chocolate isn’t a drug.

    Gastroparesis?

Gastroparesis is not exclusive to only people with diabetes. Anyone can develop it. We just notice the effects of it more easily in trying to observe insulin going to work versus when carbs start peaking blood sugar.

Digestive system issuesnot sure if this is diabetic related

A gastric delay (gastroparesis) isn’t selective like that. But it can slow a low blood sugar recovery. Is that what you’re experiencing? That’s the only typical time when you’d expect sugar to work fast.

1st time T1 has got me down

I wish I could say that we could get better, but right now this isn’t the case. Hopefully this support group can bring yours spirits back up, and let you know that you aren’t alone. We can survive this; we just have to be better than the rest for what we have to do.

Manage Hypos with low carb diet

I like that you’ve basal tested to see exactly what need, but are you carb counting for those bolus amounts? If no, you need to learn that skill.

    No insulin for the day

Um. If you’re t1 you need insulin. You are going to have to get some. I know I’m t1- insulin is a must for me.
