    My latest Animas inset II.

This can happen if you fire into scar tissue or muscle. Are you very slim? Are you using 6mm inset?

    Cannula needle not inserting.

Isn't that inserter one you are meant to replace every so often? I'm not on the same one but I remember seeing something similar on my pump training and being told it wears out and then causes insertion problems. Might be worth trying a new inserter?

Which colour pump to go for

I have the Animas Vibe in silver and I LOVE it!! When I started pumping there was a delay with my order so I got a temporary Animas 2020 in pink - the colour I thought I wanted. Two weeks later I couldn't stand the pink colour anymore. I felt it looked tacky and childish and I asked people their...

Pump and hot weather = nightmare!

Re: Pump and hot weather = nightmare! Don't know if it will help you all with the cannulas not sticking but I have been showering with my son's Sanex Dermo Kids Body Wash & Foam Bath. It smells fruity, bit like mango, but my goodness does it help my cannulas stick better. No idea why!! I...

Pump and hot weather = nightmare!

Re: Pump and hot weather = nightmare! I'm having similar issues with the hot weather. I'm on Novorapid and this is absorbed too quickly in the heat so I can get bad hypos. Then I end up high after trying to treat them. Also it hurts me more to fire my Insets in when it's hot and I tend to hit...

    Animas Vibe CGM

Hi Jagger That's right they aren't making the 2020 and they would be replacing your pump anyway because the 2020 has a software fault that means it will stop working at the end of next year (you should have had a letter about that). The vibe is pretty much the same apart from a few tweaks...

    Purchasing a CGM

VickiT11979 I have just got the Animas Vibe after my 2020 screen broke and have been thinking about a sensor. Did you have to go through your DSN or did you buy straight from Animas? Did you need or get offered training or a trial? I am worried that I might spend all that money and not like it...

    Had enough!!

Re: Had enough!! Don't give up!!! I had a horrendous start on the pump and felt just the same as you. I'd booked a holiday with my hubby before I knew I'd be getting the pump and I remember being so high and confused. I spent my holiday crying and saying I wanted to quit pumping. It took me a...

    Brittle Diabetes

This is a very interesting post and yes brittle diabetes is real but also very rare. I was diagnosed diabetic in 1984 and my local hospital could not control my BG. My parents discovered the top diabetic clinic at the time was down the road at the John Radcliffe and got me referred. Thank god...

    Animas Vibe CGM

Hello I had an Animas 2020 but the screen started to fail and Animas replaced it with an upgraded Vibe at no charge. So now I can access CGM if I'd like. Do anyone have current info on funding costs for the CGM with Vibe? Anyone on the Animas CGM I'd be interested to hear your feedback - good...

Anyone been told you have to buy pump batteries now?

Animas just told me the same thing and said the change is due to new EU regs regarding lithium batteries. They told me just to get them from my local supermarket instead but I'm not happy about the decision. Not sure if it's just cost cutting on their part.

    Insulin pumps and illness

So over my 2 years of being on a pump I've been ill and normally find a temp basal of 30-50% plus a little extra when I bolus keeps my BG in check and helps me get better faster. However recently I have been really ill and can't seem to get my BG down. It started with raised BG and then...

    Induction hobs and pumps warning

Found this on Diabetes UK: Would I wear an insulin pump all the time? Insulin pumps are usually worn 24 hours a day. They can however be disconnected for a short time if necessary, eg during some contact sports (see below). You should not expose your insulin pump to strong magnetic fields...

Cannula coming off too easily - any advice?

Hello I use these sets and I did have one box that didn't stick so well so worth trying a new batch just to check. What does your son shower/wash with? Certain bath products leave a residue that can cause issues with adhesion. Also the glue is heat activated and I find to get a really good...

How often do you change canula sites?

Every 3 days unless they get sore before, although that's rare. If I have a special event coming up that clashes with a set change I'll leave an earlier set in a 4th day so that the two don't clash. I use 6mm teflon
