    I can not comment on the long acting insulin you use as i am on a pump and have been advised that my basal insulin requirements will change periodically based on weather, activity etc and it is not unheard of to have separate basal profiles. I have 2 myself one for workdays and one for weekends...

    The correction dose would not affect your basal unless of course your basal dose is incorrect. I would guess that unless you have done any intense activity your high reading is most likely as a result of either a miss calculation in carbs you have consumed or your basal needs a little tweaking...
