It's not a competition but feeling fed up

Hi @HEG - you're doing a good job for you. This isn't a sprint, lifestyle changes are most important and need to be sustained or problems may develop - you don't mention how much weight your other half has taken off?

Don't take your success for granted!

Mike Your first paragraph is exactly where I am as of Friday past - 5% after 3 months diagnosis from 7.7%. Your subsequent paragraphs illustrate life's journey and as "normal" people all we can do is our best, throughout this journey, to maintain a healthy lifestyle that can assist in...

    It really does work!

Low carbs and exercise have got my HbA1c down to 5% or 31 mmol/mol in 3 months. Doctor was pretty impressed and thought perhaps too much control! Down to one Metformin and test again in 3 months. Cholesterol much improved also and no need to for Statins. Three cheers for the forum!

What I'd give to be normal again

Hi Brendon.Kean. I got back from work and read your post. You're not in a place you would wish to be - none of us are. You have problems but you have good support from your woman and a good buddy in your dog. There are no easy, go to answers - there seems to be a different twist for each with...

    Fussy Eater and Type 2!

I used to think pasta was healthy and it became a staple of my diet pre T2. I have come across a substitute with 0.1g carbohydrate per 100g - they sell under the name 'barenaked noodles' and I got them in Sainsburys. They worked really well in an Italian concoction of mine and only 8kcals per...

    Diabetic experts recommend not testing??

I must be lucky. Doctor diagnosed T2 in September. At first post diagnosis check up 4 weeks later he was really happy I had taken steps to control my illness - understanding, diet, exercise, testing and targets. First target being to review my HbA1c test due in January to assess whether I need...

    Dry Mouth

Thanks for the reply. I try to deny it but the wife insists I do. Think this could be the cause rather than the Type 2?

    Dry Mouth

Hello All - relatively new to this journey. Over the past 6 weeks I've got my BS down to around 5.2 average - abstinence and the little exercise I fit in. However, I continue to have a really dry mouth overnight and wake regularly to take on water. Is this usual when BS is lowered?

    Big thanks

Hello, I'm not too bad as at the stage I'm at the T2 seems to be manageable within a new daily routine - if I stick to it. My hat goes off to those who have stricter regimes or have had to cope for a lot longer with either of the varieties.

    Big thanks

Dear all - I set off on the Type 2 trail about 6 weeks ago and at that stage had no understanding whatsoever about diabetes. My contribution to the forum so far has been minuscule but the knowledge I have gathered from reading all kinds of posts has been immeasurable. I just wanted to commend...

Type 2 Advice for a newbie please

I'm down at 4.5 fasting and 5.7 at 2 hours after meal - not sure how much of this is down to changed lifestyle, around 1000 cals/30 g carbohydrate per day, or the 1/500 mg Metformin per day I've been taking for a week - any advice? I'll certainly be discussing the lifestyle changes I've made...

Type 2 Advice for a newbie please

Thanks for all the really useful information and for relating experience. I'm leaning towards learning to walk before I run. Metformin seems beneficial in several ways and I'll take the Doctor's advice regarding dosage and keep a record of my measurements to discuss when we meet up again in 3...
