    Since getting my blood sugars under control I have, touch wood, been relatively free of illness and infection. Prior to that I was always ill and had a number of abscesses. Good control of blood sugar seems to have made the difference.

    I agree low carb is not a miracle lifestyle which will stop all nasties but it has made a significant improvement for me in quality of life since diagnosis 12 months ago - sea change compared to the previous 10 years or so

    Cardiologist on Radio 4 news just now reaffirming lifestyle as the key and, in many respects, too many drugs and reliance on them the problem. Statins have "..marginal effect on those already with heart disease...".

    Meters

    Got a TEE2 meter as it was free and wanted to check against my SD Codefree. TEE2 at 5.3 and SD at 6.4 is a little perplexing but no doubt down to tolerance, testing strips etc etc. Does make me wonder how true all tests are including the venerable hba1c?
