    Diagnosed 2 months ago, still adjusting

    Low carb, sensible fat, reduced calories and exercise reduced my weight quite quickly - around 2/3 pounds per week - and I stabilised at 11 stone 7 pounds, 32 waist and BMI of 22 - never felt better - suggest you carry on!

    Once you have consistent readings - as you seem to be heading towards - and have sorted the food out you can deal with and are happy to have as the principal parts of your diet - you can test now and then to check, rather than frequently to set the pattern - you decide when you reach that point.

    If you need drugs take the best option, if you don't need drugs why take them - who really knows either way what the longer term implications will be? This forum is great but can become a bit navel at times.

    Latest hba1c result in

    5.1% which is great as this confirms the trend since diagnosis in September 2016 - 7.7% at diagnosis and then 5.0%, 5.2% and now 5.1%. This last result is with a full 3 months off metformin. Thanks for the support and knowledge provided by this forum - essential reading for all Ds.
