    Switching from Insulatard to Levemir

Anna - why do you think Levemir worked for you this time? I'm just curious as I know you said you didn't feel good on it before - and wonder what's changed...?

How to ask GP nicely for animal insulin?

I have to say my GP is brilliant - and if already established a good relationship with her - so when my consultant flatly refused to prescribe porcine insulin to me (despite him knowing I'd stopped my background insulin which was Levemir) - I made an appointment with her. She didn't give it to...

    Really silly, really confused!

.... brilliant advice from @noblehead - that's what I did in the early days too... you're on Lantus aren't you...? Do you take it in the am or pm...? Tricky to adjust if you've taken todays dose already - but if you take it at night then you *could* have a couple of drinks, and reduce your dose...

    Carb counting - confused!

Ohhhhh..... I think he's American - so that makes more sense!! :-) *however* I'm still a bit confused - I'm walking round my kitchen looking at packets - and notice the dietary fibre of almonds is almost exactly the same as the carb content: ie if I did subtract the dietary fibre then the carb...

https://www.jdrf.org.uk/news/latest-news/breaking-news-encapsulated-stem-cells-implanted-in-to-person-with-type-1-diabetes-for-first-time After the recent, brilliant news, I knew the next step was the need for the cells to be encapsulated in order to protect them - I assumed this would take a...

    Pain in my entire body

... This is exactly how I felt on analogue insulin... I don't know if the two are related for you, but I noticed you said you weren't taking your insulin consistently before, and now are - so that's the only reason I mention it. Two months on analogues and I felt terrible - one month on...

Nice news about treating auto-immune diseases with an already tested drug ...

I'm a bit surprised / confused by this article - as IGF-1 is strongly linked to cancer, particularly in over 40's (lots of info on google). Given that peeps with autoimmune 'stuff' are also at higher risk of cancer, this theory doesn't make sense to me... At least in terms of, it seems a risky...

Not that I'm on a mission to say it's to do with the accucheck - but - I just found this.... it's four years old - but it does run true to the cross checks I've been doing with three meters the last 48hrs with an accucheck mobile, a freestyle optimum neo and a freestyle freedom lite.... the two...

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

.... if it's any help, I cross checked my Accucheck-mobile with my Freestyle Optimum Neo all day yesterday and today as I suspected the mobile was out as I keep feeling REALLY low at anything in the 4's.... the Accucheck was at least a 1.3 higher consistently - often 2 points higher, and a...

Aggghhhhhh....! Accucheck v's Freestyle - accuracy??

OK.... so.... since I've been on insulin, I've been using the Accu-check mobile - I really like that it's strip free as it makes it really easy to test when out and about etc.... Anyhoo - there have been lots of times I've felt low & wibbly - but my meter says 4.something - so I've thought...

What time of day do you take your lantus?

@noblehead - that link is really interesting... I inject my long acting into my backside - but I use the fleshier bits - ie lower - than this pic recommends... Do you know why they recommend higher up...? Have I been injecting 'bum shots'; literally... ;-) :D Sent from the Diabetes Forum App
