Hair loss and low in iron

Yep, Hemolysis is believed to be the culprit. The increase in the reticulocyte count would only be noticed if it was specifically tested for in the blood test. That test doesn't come as standard here and was told I'd have to pay for it myself. Turned out it was cheaper to get Iron supplements :-0

Libre readings bottom out and flatline... yet I'm still alive

I saw similar patterns and behaviour when I manually reattached my sensor after knocking it off. In my experince if I attach the sensor on the left arm the accuracy is much better than a similar position on the right arm.

Hair loss and low in iron

I get low Iron levels and eventually anemia symptoms largely due to my exercise regime. Running seems to lower my iron levels and kill red blood cells :-( No hair loss though, but plenty of dizzy spells. I tried iron tablets ~ 50 mg with vitamin C but didn't help and caused stomach pains...

i know everyone is different but looking for others opinions

I aim to keep my BS below 5.5 mmol and > 4.3 mmol at all times, no post meal spikes allowed :-)

    Query on flour alternatives.

Almond flour for me. I got fed up with the high prices for ground almonds so starting grinding my own. Aldi sell 200g whole almonds fairly cheap.

    Freestyle Libre sensor Help

I've recently been on vacation where I was running every morning, causing profuse sweating due to the heat. In the afternoon I was on the beach and swimming. I used one these and it just about held on the sensor for the week :- https://www.diasticker.de/freestyle-libre/tapes/ Towards the end...

Freestyle Libre - worth every penny

While we're deep in discussion of the accuracy of the libre, I've found that a sensor on the back of the upper left arm is much more accurate than the same position on the right arm. Anyone else find this or is it pure chance ?

Freestyle Libre - worth every penny

I get the libre on the health insurance here in Germany, I have to part fund it ~ 30 euros every 3 months but I was paying the same for 3 months worth of test strips. It certainly is an improvement over finger pricks but I find Abbot (German) customer service dreadful. In the first 3 months...

Stitch on the right side when running

Thanks all for the replies and info. @helensaramay, salt is something I haven't considered thanks. I sweat a lot during my running training and if I'm not running then I'm cycling and sweating even more :-0. How long did it take your friend to see an improvement after upping the salt intake ?

    Coffee

I experimented some more this morning with 4 cups of black coffee and a new libre sensor. Pretty much flatlined with the exception of a small rise of ~ 10 mg/dl between 10 am and 11 am. I normally get this Monday morning's so it's not coffee related. Coffee back on the menu for me!

Stitch on the right side when running

Hi, I do a fair amount of running , at least twice per week at a race pace between 7-9 km's. I've only missed 4 runs this year when I pulled my back before Easter, so I'm not a novice or by any means unfit. My weight is perfect for my height and age. Recently I've been experiencing side...

Manually , the hole was still open. Clearly didn't work :-( From what I understand you can't re-use the applicator.

    Coffee

I forgot to buy my nettle tea this week and couldn't be bothered cycling to the shop to get some. I faced breakfast without a hot drink so decided to end my 5.5 year coffee ban ( and all caffeine drinks). I was expecting a spike but bizarrely ended up with a mild hypo. My last cups of coffee ...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

5.0 with the last 1.5 months using the libre with a couple of dodgy sensors reading too low. Libre predicted HbA1c would be 4.2 :-(

    Freestyle libre overnight readings.

Thanks for all the info, most useful. Today's readings are marginally closer to my glucose reader's ~ 0.5 mmol on the low side. Might take some time to fully 'trust' it due to the dispersion of results, especially when it comes to bolusing.

    Freestyle libre overnight readings.

A very simple calibration by comparing the finger prick glucose reader values against the libre values. I trust the glucose reader values unequivocally (One touch verio) and have based my tight control on their outputs for the last 5 years. If I know it's going to be 20 mg/dl ~ 1.1 mmol out...

    Freestyle libre overnight readings.

My last scan was at ~ 20:30 and I got up and scanned again at ~06:40. The gap was between ~20:30 and ~22:30, so it appears to drop the older data. One other thing , I've been using it for 24 hours and I'm continually getting low readings. I've calibrated it with my glucose readers and it...
