    Type 1: A good HbA1C without hypos?

Strenuous exercise is the key for me , without it my control goes off a bit. I've maintained my HBA1C in the high 4%'s for around 2 years now with minimal hypos, until recently. I decided to go back a strict low carb diet for the new year but have had 3 hypo's this week already :-( Not a big...

    Type 1s: Acceptable spike

A1c has been in upper 4 % for years which is slightly lower than 32 mmol. Half units really help but if you're prone to hypo's I wouldn't try really tight control. My last hypo was in October. Tight control really goes out the window when I don't exercise

    Type 1s: Acceptable spike

I do all my exercise mainly in the morning so never hypo due to DP , although need to inject to avoid going too high dependent on what I'm doing. 5.5 is my target which I stay under most of the time ! I'm still subject to bizarre random readings which typifies diabetes management., This morning...

    Eating In Spain

I survived mainly off omelets when I was in Spain recently. Everything in restaurants comes with chips and when taken away all that is left is a measly meat portion. A nearby supermarket sold roast chickens so I had one of them per day. Hardly gourmet eating but I kept my BS under control...

Type 1: Diabetes treatment in another country!

Hi Alex, I've lived in Germany for ~14 years but only been a diabetic for ~ 5 of those years. As a result I can't compare the treatment received in Germany to other countries, only based on what I've heard on this forum. There are some benefits that you may not get in Ireland...

    cuts healing

I cut my hands on the weekend rebuilding my bike and ended up with several cuts. They are all healing nicely. I remember when I was first diagnosed and my control wasn't very good , cuts / blisters seemed to take forever to heal.
