    High sugar

Hi @Chloelox, is it novorapid you took or a different insulin? Did you eat recently? Is that why you are high? Is it less than 2 hours since you ate? I use novorapid and if I'm still digesting a meal it can be a good hour or more before my blood sugars start coming down. If I haven't eaten...

Wart on base of foot Issue

When I had verrucas a few years ago, the podiatrist said to just leave them and they would go away on their own and they did, fortunately they weren't sore or painful though

    Ketone Guide

This is what the NHS website says If you do a blood ketone test: lower than 0.6mmol/L is a normal reading 0.6 to 1.5mmol/L means you're at a slightly increased risk of DKA and you should test again in 2 hours 1.6 to 2.9mmol/L means you're at an increased risk of DKA and should contact your...

    Worried mum

Hi @rubybaby2, are you in the UK? If so, I would give 111 a ring, they'll be the best people to advise you

    COVID 19 and anxiety

Hi @DTay9999, I haven't been out since pre-lockdown. I'm 32 and have had diabetes for 22 years but my BMI and HBa1c are both higher than they should be and I have 4 other autoimmune conditions (fairly innocuous ones but it does make me wonder how my body would cope with covid-19) :bag: I live in...

    Breakfast ideas

I struggle with what to have for breakfast and have been having bran flakes the last couple of days, but like you they also make me rather high! Usually if I want something carby I tend to have some cream crackers with peanut butter. Chia pudding is meant to be good and low carb but I don't find...

    Libre vs pump

I'm still fairly new to the libre (on my third sensor now) and I don't drive, but I do rely on just the libre for dosing. That said, I guess how sensitive you are to insulin is important, if you're very sensitive and an extra unit (or half a unit) could be catastrophic to your BG level then I...

How can I get NHS to fund my pump supplies?

Hi @olamakiola, I don't know that you'd necessarily have to wait until you had been referred by your GP to ask about funding your supplies, you could get in touch with the clinic and explain the situation and see what the likelihood is of them funding you, if they are willing to discuss it...

    Ketones?

I know, this is not my first rodeo ;) I copied and pasted from the NHS website, obviously you don't have to have them all, you'd have trouble being thirsty etc if you're passed out :)

    Ketones?

I'm not a medical professional so I can't advise, if I were you I'd go to A&E or phone 111, it's not worth taking the risk.

    Ketones?

You don't have to feel sick or be being sick to have ketoacidosis Symptoms of DKA include: needing to pee more than usual feeling very thirsty being sick tummy pain breath that smells fruity (like pear drop sweets, or nail varnish) deep or fast breathing feeling very tired or sleepy confusion...

    Ketones?

The NHS website says If you do a blood ketone test 3mmol/L or above means you have a very high risk of DKA and should get medical help immediately

    Ketones?

I'd phone 111 or go to A&E, if your glucose meter says 'high/hi' it means it is over 33.3 (at least on all the meters I've used) and you need to get your ketones and blood down asap before you become seriously unwell

How often does your insulin to carbohydrate ratio change?

I would ask your dietitian about splitting your bolus. I was having this problem (though with less carbs than your 120g) and my dietitian said that if I was having over 50g of carbs in a meal to not have all my insulin in one go, I use a pump so I was advised to do a dual wave. I'm not advising...

    Lying on Libre

I'm on my second sensor, the first one I put on the outside of my arm and it stayed on pretty well, I have a habit of walking into door frames so the odds were against me :hilarious: this one I put on the inside just to see what I prefer. I got some tegaderm patches but haven't needed them so far.

    Type 1 Omnipod dash

Have you spoken to your healthcare team about wanting a pump? That would be the first step you need to take if you haven't already done so, and find out what the criteria are for getting a pump funded at your hospital. There have been a few threads recently about getting pumps on the NHS that...
