Expired Dexcom - can I still use?

Good point @In Response, thanks :) I can't afford Dexcom anyway so won't be giving up my Libre prescription either :D

Arguments for having a pump prescribed

I had just moved to that hospital, they did require me to prove I could carb count by dividing a pile of plastic food into 'has carbs' and 'doesn't have carbs'! I'm at a different hospital now and I am on the waiting list to do DAFNE but y'know...covid.

Expired Dexcom - can I still use?

Hello, Advice needed please! Last year I signed up for the free Dexcom trial, received the kit, put it in the cupboard and promptly forgot about it! (was waiting for my new pump and training at the time) :nailbiting: I found it the other day and the box says it has expired (November 2021), I'm...

Arguments for having a pump prescribed

I'd been diagnosed about 15 years before I was offered a pump, my team decided I needed one. Whilst I want to say no argument was needed in my case, it minimises how difficult it is to get a pump and how bad things had to get for me to be offered one. I joke that I had to almost die to get a...

    Sleep and BS

Hi @AnnM99, I definitely find poor/not enough sleep and anxiety affect my BG, both on their own and together. I find I'm higher and more insulin-resistant. P.s sorry have just seen you posted in the type 2 forum, I'm type 1 :nailbiting:

    FreeStyle libre and hcp

I do. When I got the libre, from the info I got sent about it (this was last year) from my clinic I got the impression it wasn't optional. I don't share with my GP, just the hospital clinic. If I self-funded it might be a different matter, not sure though :D

    Libre 2 adhesion

I never had a problem with the libre 1s sticking, but I have had some problems with libre 2s. You probably already do this, but I find if I use something to go around the libre pressing the adhesive bit down when I apply it, that does help. I usually use a plastic card (unused shop loyalty card...

2nd Vaccine Dose Reaction/ Symptoms - Do I get Booster?

And something being non-fatal for 99% of the population doesn't equal those 99% being absolutely fine and dandy if they get covid. Personally I have enough health issues to deal with, without adding potential organ damage, long covid, or whatever else.

    When is the right time?

Hi @Wifey1234, that sounds like a horrible situation for your OH to be putting you in, I'm curious what their feelings are towards these hypos and the responsibility they're putting on you, is it an issue for them? I agree with needing to get a glucagen kit, but if your OH won't see their...

What info to put on a medical alert bracelet?

Hi @Bakeburn, welcome :) I wear a silicone wristband, on one side it says 'type 1 diabetes' and on the other it says 'insulin pump'. On my phone there's an emergency info bit, although I honestly have no idea how it's accessed, which has the same things plus my husbands number and it says not...

    High Glucose levels

Hi @Deltic man, I think you need to contact your GP first thing tomorrow, or phone 111 now if you're in the UK. I think on the adverts they just mean for minor things like rashes or aches and strains, things like that. I think with you being on warfarin you need to get yourself checked out, but...

    Pfizer Vaccine

I had AZ for my first two jabs and they caused me to have lower BG levels, my Pfizer booster doesn't seem to have made any difference but the side effects of the Pfizer were not pleasant :(
