Best quick fix for hypo with tube feeding

Would something like glucogel work? It absorbs through your inner cheek so no need to swallow.

At what age were you diagnosed?

I was 9. My brother (not diabetic) took part in some research (maybe 15 years ago) as a sibling of a person with diabetes looking at genes and they told him if you got to 18 without a diagnosis it was pretty much not going to happen o_O

Repeat Prescriptions Over Christmas and New Year.

Thanks for the reminder @Rachox :)

    Wondering if someone could help

For me it depends how low I am (and what direction my libre arrow is going in) and whether the food is in front of me or if it's going to be a few minutes or more until I'm going to eat. Honestly though, and I'm not saying this is the right thing to do, but I usually eat a jelly baby or 2, delay...

    Using Insulin help

Hi @Dontwanttoo, I'd give 111 a ring, they'll be able to advise you what to do. Steroids will mess your bloods up good and proper though :nailbiting:

    mixed insulin

Hi @EGHSnr, welcome :) I can understand that your son may be self-conscious about his pump but IMO going onto mixed insulin would not be a good idea :nailbiting: Honestly I can't see a consultant happily agreeing to it either. Especially for an almost-teenager. Mixed insulin offers no...

Choice between Libre 1 and Libre 2

Me too. But the alarms with libre 2 are useful.

North East & North West LIVERPOOL?!?

I don't live in Liverpool I'm afraid, but have you asked your diabetes clinic if there's anything going on? My old clinic used to have posters up about local events and there was a group who used to meet there, although you only knew about them if you'd seen the posters etc  Might be...

    Suddenly experiencing lots of lows

I don't have any advice to offer I'm afraid, but a few years ago at a pump training session, held when there had been a fair bit of snow, the pump rep mentioned that at another training session she had done (a few days before) some of the people there mentioned the snow/cold weather had caused a...

I don't blame you not wanting to sit in A&E. Hope you get sorted :)

    Very blood shot eye

Hi @Hertfordshiremum, I'd ring 111 or your optician for advice.

Strong question- what do you think caused your diabetes (type 1)

I was diagnosed 24 years ago with no family history of diabetes, since then my uncle was also diagnosed type 1, I have developed 3+ other autoimmune conditions, my mum has been diagnosed with 3, my uncle has been diagnosed with 3 more, and my grandmother (who always insisted my diabetes was the...

Are you going to get vaccinated?

Thank you @catinahat, that is very useful to know :cat:

Are you going to get vaccinated?

That would make sense wouldn't it. Thank you @Mr_Pot, I am a bit of a worrier :bag:

Are you going to get vaccinated?

I had made an appointment but I've now found out there's a walk-in that's less than 10 minutes walk away, whilst the appointment one is 35 minutes walk, so I was going to cancel that, but it might be easier to go for the appointment if I don't need proof for it :nailbiting:

Are you going to get vaccinated?

I'm planning on getting my booster next week :D I'm a bit anxious about needing to prove I'm eligible though (this is to go to a walk-in vaccination centre), the NHS say you need a letter inviting you to get your booster, which I don't have, or a letter from your GP about your health condition...

GP surgery no longer carrying out diabetic annual feet checks

My GP surgery are still doing foot checks, they're quite basic though. My hospital clinic do foot checks as part of your annual review as well, but I've only been there once and didn't need a foot check as I'd just had one at the GPs, so I'm not sure how thorough they are.

    Eye tests (not retinal screening)

Thanks everyone. I can't remember if they told me last time when to come back, but I'm guessing it was in 2 years, I will pay more attention next time :D

It's a good job you went then  Hope you get sorted out soon.

    Eye tests (not retinal screening)

Thanks everyone :) It's about 3 years since I went to the opticians so I'm rather overdue either way! @Mrs T 123 thank you for the OCT info, I haven't had my retinal screening done this year so I will get that done, my local opticians charge £30 for it though
