Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

7.0! Eeek! Not had one of those in the morning since the very early days. Delayed reaction to eating out on Saturday perhaps? Heading off on usual walk and will see what that does. Very nervous as back at Drs this morning to talk about the anxiety.

    Regular moderate exercise log

That's me - I counted up last week and I think I've had a grand total of (up to last Monday) 14 days off sick in the nearly 24 years I've been teaching. And that includes the 8 days I took when I broke my elbow :) So this has all been a bit of a shock to the system. So glad that you are feelong...

5.4 waking up at a beautiful hotel for hubby birthday. Had the loveliest day yesterday with the family - felt so much better and managed to knock the anxiety symptoms on the head for a bit :) Had first proper meal out since diagnosis which did lead to a spike of 9.4 at bedtime (it was the bread...

    Regular moderate exercise log

I've been 4 times this week. It's been really enjoyable - very good for the anxiety that has put me off work. I've done more every day. Tuesday 30 lengths of a 20m pool. Wednesday 38. Thursday 46. Friday 50. I'm back at the doctors on Monday and I'm sure that I won't be back at work for a...

5.1 - lovely sunny morning :) Off to Sheffield to pick up daughter from university, then on to a lovely hotel for the night - celebrating Hubby's, 50th birthday tomorrow. Eating at the restaurant tonight - and we are BOTH having pudding :D Will see what effect that has tinight/tomorrow!

Oh - I had no idea that these even existed. Thank you. My plan is to be very restrictive over refined carbs until I've had my July Hbc1A - then when that is a lovely low number (I hope) I was going to try and add bits back in :)

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

2.3kg down this week, which makes a total loss of 13.5kg (just over 2 stone) - and also means I've lost more than 10% body mass. :) :) :)

I've not had pasta since I was diagnosed. Hubby (also diabetic) can manage a small portion ok without a big spike.

5.6 today. Got through taking sick note to school and talking to my head - but that really set my tummy off again. Made me realise that I'm really not well at all. Phoned surgery and am back next Monday to see the lovely GP who signed me off. Then I bit the bullet and went in Facebook to tell...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

HbA1c is due at the start of July. I had originally thought that if I got a really good figure then, I would come off the met. I've never been one for taking tablets - and didn't really want to start them. But my first HbA1c was pretty dreadful, so I thought that even with big diet changes...

Type 2 Diabetes now on medication

@debbiek don't worry about being told you don't need to test. Just go buy an monitor, test before a meal and then 2 hours after and see what the effect of each meal you eat is. Then adjust the amount of carbs you are eating until you are happy with the results. All the target figures are here...

It wasn't hypo wobbly, but nervous wobbly ickihun. Still feel that way now even though I was up to 7 after breakfast. But you have made me think that I do need to carry something fast acting with me when I do my morning walk - would be stupid to get into trouble that way. I'm assuming that...

    Regular moderate exercise log

I'd done an early morning walk of 30-60 minutes every day for nearly 6 weeks - then after a long dry spell - two VERY wet mornings. So swapped my walk today for a swim - enjoyed it so much that I think I will add in a swim every day this week while I'm off work

    Visit to Doctor This AM

In our area, you get a letter every year telling you to book a screening apt. In it there is a long list of places you can go to. It includes hospitals, health centres and a number of different opticians, including chains like Boots and Specsavers. We always got to a NHS clinic - but that's only...

    Is this normal?

My GP has no pre-bookable appts. You phone in the morning and book a telephone triage consult (or you can book this online) A GP phones you up, and then sorts it over the phone or gives you an appt the same day with another doctor if they think they need to see you in person. It means there is...

Hi Emma I'd say nice to see you here - but I'm sure we'd both rather not! :) It's such a lot to take in isn't it. It's nearly 6 weeks since my diagnosis and whilst I've got the blood sugars , weight loss and exercise all under control - my brain is just mashed. Read lots on this site though -...
