New mum trying to process new result but confused and upset

Hi, don't feel bad or blame yourself but have a good old cry and try to get it out of your system as holding it all in isn't helpful. Because you are now aware of healthy eating and how important it is, your baby will benefit as well in the long run. Try to think of this as an opportunity, it...

    Heart versus diabetes

Sorry, I have just been here thinking and wondering. I have not yet got my monitor so no more readings. My EHIC card seems to have got lost. I have not done a huge amount of walking here yet due to the fact it's so wet but I am losing some weight steadily, not by VLC methods but I have done LCHF...

    Heart versus diabetes

I am concerned about eating meat as especially here in France the abbatoir sysem is very bad and last time I was here I decided to be more vegetarian. There is a strange new word - flexitarian, that sort of suits me I think as I only have meat once or twice a week, sometimes less. I wouldn't say...

    Heart versus diabetes

I do try to fast where I can. I usually do it overnight until about 2 or 3pm the next day. My bp was taken at 9am so maybe that was somethin g to do with it. Thanks for that, when I get my bp monitor I'll do a check.

    Heart versus diabetes

It's a bit tricky where I am so I have to make a guess at the moment. I am sticking to LCHF, trying not to eat meat. I got some salmon at the weekend but just can't face it, so the dog can have it. Broccoli soup for lunch should have been ok. Cauliflower cheese tonight.

    Heart versus diabetes

I am confused. I can't think what will happen to me in France if I go to the doctor's. No-one to look after the dog etc. I'm keeping to a strict diet in the hope of losing weight quicky and have sent for a bp monitor.

    Heart versus diabetes

It's amazing, I read stuff and it all conflicts, I have been glued to the internet since he told me what the readings were. Best thing I can think of at the moment is to lose some drastic weight and see what that does for me. It can't kill me I suppose.

I might try that it was sickening to hear it though!

    Heart versus diabetes

It's just that things I have seen about improving heart health include things like oats, lentils etc which are not included in the LCHF diet. I cannot go on eating meat it's a heck of a diet to change to and I have always hated it but stuck with it as it is so heavily recommended. Now the heart...

Leeks, garlic, stuff with allicin, most prepacked foods have onion that's why I cook my own food.

    Heart versus diabetes

I am generally active and have a dog so I walk most days, gardening, allotment. Not in France though at the moment. Perhaps I am worrying unnecessarily.

    Heart versus diabetes

Perhaps that might be best, I have been trying to think how it could be so bad, the surgery wasn't bothered so perhaps I should just carry on LCHF as usual.

    Heart versus diabetes

Hi I don't know really I am trying to think what to do for the best and I am on no medication and have been diagnosed a year nearly. No other health issues, I thought I was as fit as a fiddle. I just thought the first step might be to lose a marked amount of weight, it seems to be recommended.

    Heart versus diabetes

Thanks. I am not sure I can eat less salt than I do now, I cook all the time from scratch as I have an intolerance to onion etc. I was very surprised when the reading was done as I have been watching my diet for a long time now and so all the recommended things. It is so diasappointing.

    Heart versus diabetes

Hi I am currently in France for a while. On the day I left the UK I randomly got my blood pressure taken whilst waiting for my flu jab. The pharmacist said it wasn't good news - 200/80. Anyway, I came to France as my surgery couldn't get me an urgent appointment - of course not! My French is not...

    Burn out, anxiety and stress

I didn't see that as 'get a grip' just a few words about another view which helped in a particular circumstance. Other people's opinions are always relevant because you can pick and choose the bits that might be beneficial.

    Not doing very well.

Sorry to hear about your current state. I hate and loathe LCHF diet but everyone here seems to think it is the best thing to do. I just eat the stuff I am supposed to and close my mind to what I really want. May I suggest, if you are home schooling that you start to do nutrition as part of the...
