    Insulin Resistance

Hi Broom, first I'm a huge advocate of exercise to improve control Insulin Resistance. If I have picked you up right your questioning why diet first because you agree with the argument that diet is damage control and exercise is fixing the problem. :bookworm: So why "more diet" simply because...

Type 2 Anyone on this forum that has reversed/controlled their diabetes without going very low carb?

Hi Kick, As long as your not crazy and having rice sandwiches breakfast lunch and dinner, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. For some people they are so carb sensitive they have to cut out bread and rice. Check your results with a glucose meter and if t doesn't spike you then you shouldn't...

Hi Martin, The usual school of thought is carbs to supply you body with fuel to give you energy to exercise before and protein afterwards to feed your muscles and promote growth. Is that going to be ok for you how do you handle carbs? If you on a Keto or LCFH diet then your body should...

So that's what chocolate tastes like.

I had a FLAKE the other day just the one, if it could be called one. It was from a multi-pack and about half the size of a small anorexic twig. :( I had a late night early start and because I'm old now and get tired easily I had an afternoon nap. Just wanted something sweet to kick start things...

    Crustless Quiche

Frittata. An Italian version of a quiche made exactly the same way except there is no pastry base you should be able to get it in most supermarkets or just make it yourself. It's just like a Spanish omelet. Eggs, milk, double cream, filling, cheese on top cooks in 20 mins in the oven. I picked...

Low carb diet to eat more?

Hi Tsouza, This sounds more like your describing an eating disorder than an beneficial change in diet. Just now you say your life is consumed by reading labels and counting carbs, "it has been an utterly unmotivating experience for me" If your getting no pleasure from what your eating then...

Type 1 How long do carbohydrates stay in the gut?

"I mean how long until they are digested" quote button not working :meh: I read somewhere it takes 6 hours to digest a meal, don't know what is being classed as a meal in these terms but this feel about right to me. If I eat something low carb I'm good for at least 6 hours before I feel hungry...

Calories in/Calories Out AND/OR Low Carb

Hi Joe, You have just set yourself up for the calorie is not a calorie argument. :banghead: But you are right reducing the amount (not calories) should give better results as long as your talking about how the body stores fat and the effects of insulin in this process. Keto is tapping into the...

Calories in/Calories Out AND/OR Low Carb

This is why we talk about grass fed butter and beef, organic coconut oil and free range chicken etc... The nutrients and minerals are from the animals diet and organic versions of foods. A bit more expensive but you usually eat less on Keto so the cost balances itself out. ;) :bag:
