    Carbs in couscous

You're not being thick, or I am as well! This doesn't make sense. Maybe the per 100 is cooked weight (has absorbed carb free water) and the per half pack is uncooked. Would have been nice if they had added this rather essential information though! Don't base your dosing on my guessing please...

SCANNING FOR READINGS ON SMART PHONE

Different countries seem to have different versions of the Libre, even when the versions have the same name! In the Netherlands, Libre2 can give alarms through bluetooth, but you need to scan to get an actual number and update your graph. You're in Canada, I'm Dutch, @LionChild is from the UK, I...

    How much insulin is 'normal'?

Perfectly normal! I was diagnosed almost 9 years ago, and during the first 6 years my long acting need slowly rose to around 115. Which worked well for me for a bit until it slowly dropped again (I lost some weight and lost a depression, not sure which made the most impact) to around 56 at the...

SCANNING FOR READINGS ON SMART PHONE

Which version of the Libre do you use? I don't think the standard Libre 2 sends automatic updates on BG, no matter what phone you use (unless you use a 3rd party app).

SCANNING FOR READINGS ON SMART PHONE

You'll likely need to find the sweet spot of where to touch your sensor with your phone. A previous phone wirked best when touching the sensor at an angle at the top side, my current phone likes to be placed flat on the sensor with the top edge of the phone. And from memory from when I still...

    An unusual reading.

Yes, but do you usually test before your evening meal, and is this usually 3 hours after your previous meal? If you regularly test before evening meal but also have your lunch earlier, you could have missed the higher than expected number.

So... Is the pedicure lady over-reacting or am I being silly?

I have no idea what her license was called but she was a medical pedicure actually working in a hospital, and I know she had the thing for diabetics or she would have refused to treat me. And don't worry about my feet, it's just a small spot on one of my toes sometimes bothering me. Not buying...

    An unusual reading.

Do you usually test 3 hours after a cheese and onion sandwich?

So... Is the pedicure lady over-reacting or am I being silly?

Pretty sure the package of every over the counter trick for removing calluses has a large warning against diabetics using them. Which makes sense if the diabetic has a bit of neuropathy and can't feel what they're doing.

So... Is the pedicure lady over-reacting or am I being silly?

I absolutely hate it when HCPs throw in diabetes as a cause for whatever ails me (yes, I'm looking at you, last year's neurologist, and I've had a couple of others do it as well). Usually they shut up and sometimes apologise when I ask: "Oh. I've been told by my endo that diabetic complications...

    Glucose measuring watch

Funny how the website doesn't have links to those studies proving that it works, and I couldn't find how it works, except that it uses AI.

"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Oh my, I'm so sorry! I started a long post early saturday evening, when I'd sent Mark for a half hour nap in the spare room after a great day, from which he emerged three hours later, just before I finished the post. Not the love of my life but we have plans for a weekend spent at his place in...

Libre2 going beserk in warm weather?

I haven't noticed any differences with Libre in warm weather, and I've been using them for eight years. If this happened with only one sensor it might just be a dodgy sensor?

    GLP1 and GCM differences?

I'm on insulin not on GLP1 medication. One or two mmol/l out is quite usual (mine always read lower than blood by about 1-2 mmol, and have done so for years), and it is within the acceptable range of accuracy. A difference between 2.9 and 7.5 sounds like a dodgy sensor, if it doesn't get much...

"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Thanks for the tips @MrsA2 , very useful! Funny too, I joined a facebook group for neurovergent adults yesterday to ask for tips for dating someone with autism, esecially as he's newly diagnosed and still working very hard to find out how to adjust to make his life a bit easier. Your reply fits...

"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

I agree, would be very hard, most of my meals start with chopping an onion. The date is allergic to anything containing cocoa, so I suppose no chocolate for me this weekend.

Lots of garlic in the meatloaf as well. :hilarious: But it'll be fine, he'll join me for dinner on the bridge right before the end of my shift so we'll both stink the same! I didn't do any weighing of ingredients, and adding flavour was mostly spontaneously adding things from my cupboard I...

Should I buy a libra sensor with alarm for safety

The point is that you are not at risk for hypos. You don't use medication or have a condition that can cause hypos. Why not turn off the alarms?

Should I buy a libra sensor with alarm for safety

According to your profile, metformin is the only medication you use for your diabetes, is this correct? Metformin is not associated with hypo's, on metformin only you have as much risk on a hypo as a non diabetic. If your job is requiring you to do regular fingerprick tests to rule out hypos...

Newly diagnosed T1 following hospital admission of DKA last week.

Take your time, and keep on learning! Which sounds contradictory but it really isn't. You'll be in information overload at the moment, and you do not need to understand anything but the very basics right now. So if it gets too much, go outside, enjoy the weather, accept you won't be nailing...
