    Glucose levels after meals

At what point you start to drop after injecting insulin is rather complex, depending on type of meal, activity, insulin sensitivity, brand of insulin, and different for different people. But I feel the subject is off topic on this thread, which was started by a T2 treated with diet only. Most...

Glitchy forum using multiple browsers of late…?

Thanks for working on fixing forum issues. With the change to red, information about type of diabetes and medication in peoples avatars has disappeared as well. I hope you'll be able to reinstall this, things can get dangerously confusing without this information.

My apologies for going off topic on your thread @bogwort47 , I just wanted to ask why well managed T1's would be excepted?

    Insulin and digestion time

What is your testing regime? How often do you test and do you test in relation to your meals? With your hba1c at 32 you have very tight control, much tighter than is generally advised on hypo inducing medication like insulin. I'm happy with my hba1c comparable to yours, but only because I use...

Perhaps the italics are to emphasise your very brave approach here, I absolutely love your thinking on this, and it deserves the extra attention the spontaneous italics add to your message! (Very long post trying to make up for my abscence on this thread lately. :bag:) I still have to wade...

    Insulin and digestion time

Are you on fixed doses before meals? Mealtime insulin is meant to deal with carbs, so a high carb meal will need much more insulin than a low carb meal.

    Insulin and digestion time

A stomach bug or such can very well delay digestion time, or cause food to go undigested until throwing up, nothing to do with regular digesting times. I'd consider the possibility that the sickness had nothing to do with diabetes but caused the food in your stomach to just sit there.

    Insulin smell

Of course! I use alcohol as well before putting on a sensor, but I use a bottle. I doubt if it still has any potency, I've been using the same plastic bottle for years and it lives in my window sill (for unknown reasons) where the sun shines.

I think it's not your account but the forum having issues. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'd keep trying with your usual account and see what happens. I saw you posted on both Carson and KennyA's profile to ask for help from any mod. This will only be seen if they happen to be...

    Insulin smell

I like the smell of insulin! All insulins I've used have the same, to me, earthy smell, a bit like pottery clay.

    Basal insulin test query

I need much less insulin later in the day than in the morning, and I find dosing for any substantial carbs in my first meal pretty much impossible as well. Which doesn't mean my mornings are impossible, it just means my first meal is very low carb, I can dose for that without high spikes.

Are more people getting Type 1 in their late twenties and early thirties?

I think it's even worse with fat 'T2's'. Being fat doesn't protect you in any way from developing an autoimmune condition like T1, but at least being slim and diabetic may give some health care professional the idea that something may not be adding up. I was diagnosed with 'T2' at 39, with a...
