Wow, you took the time looking up vacancies for suitable jobs in the Netherlands, from Russia, on a UK based community, this is absolutely one of the most touching things that has happened here! (There were more very touching things throughout the years like Sinterlaas poems and even presents...

Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

The forum has a sometimes overzealous filter to prevent new members from posting links to disencourage spammers. This includes links/replies to an old post. If this happened in this thread, it may be the filter caught your reply or copying the first post in this thread. Very annoying!

I'm a complete idiot when it comes to tech, so I'm tagging @Nicola M , @Zhnyaka and @tim2000s , who are all good with IT and diabetes tech and may have some ideas.

How are you now? Have you done any correction doses? I'm not sure if you're on a pump or a pen, but if pump, have you changed sites in case it's a dodgy one?

    Tresiba

Looks like your ratio works pretty well for you, 5.2 - 6.4 is very close to eachother, and well within range. As for the quick jump in between, do you take your insulin right before eating or do yo give it a bit of a headstart (prebolus)? The usual advice when starting on insulin is to inject...

I'll PM you tomorrow, thanks for thinking with me! Off to bed now, there's a bridge to be manned tomorrow morning, even though there are very few boats wanting an opening.

It's 5 months, not 6. And jumping through all the required hoops to get money because i lost my job doesn't exactly feel like a holiday, so far it triggered a not very welcome bout of anxiety, working is much easier! I'm very happy with a couple of weeks off, but after that I'd rather have...

Only if you'd like to. Remember I was misdiagnosed T2 first, so low carb was the logical route, even after starting insulin a month after diagnosis. Considering my insulin needs and my weight, I have a fair bit of insulin resistance going on with my T1, so sticking to low carb made sense. Plus...

I assume I'd feel a high at around 10-12, but I haven't been there in ages, and I feel a low between 3.3 and 3.7. So if I have no idea what my bg is, it must be somewhere in between that, but I would correct either way usually way before I get to 3.5 or over 8. Today will be the second day off...

    familial hypercholesterolaemia Calcium, lowcarb, conundrum

Cottage cheese also goes well on top of many types of casserole as a lower fat alternative to bechamel or cheese sauce. :) I'd still add some grated cheese on top though, it's all in the quantity.

    familial hypercholesterolaemia Calcium, lowcarb, conundrum

I have no knowledge on any of your conditions (well, I know a little about diabetes but still cross posting) so just a thought, based on experience with a dog. :hilarious: Her calcium levels went dangerously low because of feeding her first litter of pups, which led to a nighttime emergency...

    monitor not charging

What symbol does it change to when you unplug? The battery with the electric symbol on most devices simply means it's currently charging.

I had an interesting day today. I left home at 7:45 am for a workday, only returning at 7:30 pm. Upon arriving at the bridge where I work I found out I had forgotten my phone, so no access to CGM for the day. I'm utterly spoilt, having used Libre almost from the start of my diabetes unlike many...

"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

I decided to snack on ham, cheese, paté and a little cottage cheese throughout the day to make things easier. I know I have a meter, but I've been using Libre almost from the start of my diabetes, so going without very much feels like flying blind and it's quite hard to suppress the urge to test...

On the bridge today and wondering what to eat. I want my usual cracker for my first meal. Which needs anything from 3 to 6 units of insulin so I usually keep an eye on my CGM to correct afterwards in any direction. But I forgot my phone at home so I'll have to do without CGM until I get back at...

    Zero-carb beer

Hi @SteveN1966 , from your profile I see that you're on gliclazide. This is a medication that can cause hypos so I assume you have a meter and teststrips to test if you feel off. If you're not used to drinking alcohol but you want to, I'd recommend going easy when trying, and keeping your meter...

    Going thru all the tests

Unless it's a sweet wine, wine is much lower carb than beer. I take insulin for beer, but not for half a bottle (or more) of red wine. (Dry white should work as well, but yuck.)

    Fed up

Flozins, gliptins, metformin. A happy medium sounds sensible. :) What carbs are you mainly missing on low carb? A reduced portion size of the carbier components of your meals with increased veggies and protein could be something to look at. There's a difference between a plate full of...
