Type 2 Carbs And The Doctor/dn

Going back to the original comment. I have always told my doctors or dn exactly what I’ve been doing to change things. Told them by how much I’ve reduced my meds etc. and how. I also mentioned last time I saw my doc that I was disappointed that the advice I had been given 11 years ago hadn’t...

Type 2 Carbs And The Doctor/dn

I’ve had type 2 for 11 years now and pancreas must still be working to a certain extent as not on insulin. I think lada or type 1.5, the pancreas packs up quicker. My theory is that there are 2 types of type 2. Overweight must be insulin resistant and slim/normal not producing enough for a...

Type 2 Carbs And The Doctor/dn

It’s not just excess weight that causes type 2. I’ve never been overweight, along with about 10% of people diagnosed with type 2.

Any Other Former Low Carb Skeptics?

I agree, there are still many who haven’t heard of lchf or keto. I feel stupid because I had type 2 for 9 years before even realising that carbs are sugar. Cut out the little sugar I had and ate the ‘healthy plate’ as advised by dn and dietitian. Needless to say this didn’t work!

Your Thoughts On The Cause, Of Type 1 Diabetes

Interesting reading. I do believe my type 2 was brought on by trauma. I do have an uncle with it but he was almost 70 before he did. Also have/had 8 other aunts and uncles that didn’t. I was 50 and never overweight. Perhaps enough trauma to cause my pancreas to partially fail?

    Holiday Food Choices

Sounds like you’re doing well with your diet so far. You should still be able to stick with it fairly well on holiday. Like you say, cut out the potatoes and perhaps up the meat and veg. Hopefully if breakfast is included they will do English or omelette and not just continental. I normally put...

How Long Before Fasting Bs Corrects After Lapsing?

Another snack I enjoy is a few squares of 90% cocoa chocolate and a few brazil nuts eaten together (well one at a time!)

How Long Before Fasting Bs Corrects After Lapsing?

Sounds like you’re having a rough time at the moment, makes it more difficult to stay on track diet wise. When I’m hungry I have pork scratching, a piece of cheese or a few nuts. They don’t put the blood sugars up. Good luck

    Liver Dump

Hi Maddy From my understanding a liver dump, or dawn phenomenon, is when your liver gives you a boost of glucose before you get up in the morning to give you a bit of extra energy to get you going. Not really helpful for us with diabetes though. I’ve had diabetes 11years now and only been...

    Cinnamon Tablets

Welcome to the forum. Going to be blunt, but to say it’s absolutely your fault is absolute rubbish! I’m type 2 and it’s never even occurred to me to feel shame. Not our fault so why feel ashamed?

Need To Seriously Drop Down My Hba1c And Turn My Life Around.

Have you tried cooking a big late breakfast before going to work? Omelette, or lots of eggs and bacon etc. Then you wouldn’t feel so hungry later. You could take a packed salad with you for dinner and maybe some other low carb snacks. It has been exceptionally hot lately, I think a lot of us...

    Liver Dump

I’ve tried before bed, doesn’t make any difference. Not thought about trying in the morning. Thank you for your help.

    Liver Dump

That’s reassuring to know. I sometimes look at other people’s morning readings, but never post mine. I’m just pleased if in single figures! It was this morning - only 8.5. I’ve always been a ‘morning person’ so perhaps my liver is only trying to be helpful.

    Liver Dump

I’ve been following a low carb diet for over 2 years now but still get a big liver dump in the mornings. Eg, before bed an ok 6 first thing in morning 10.2. When will this end? I still take gliclazide with breakfast as I feel this is needed to bring levels down. I normally eat <30g carbs a day.

Struggling With Life, Low Carb And Health...

You do sound in a bad place at the moment. Perhaps your doctor could be more helpful if they realised just how little energy you have. Does the shop opposite sell nuts, pork scratching sand cheese? Not ideal, but would be a lot better than crisps and ice cream. Good luck

    Low Carb Diets Dangerous

[QUOTE="Tannith, post: 1861910, member: There is no need to risk knocking four years off your lifespan by going low carb. I have heard that type 2 diabetes knocks 10 years of your life expectancy. By going low carb and reversing this, even taking off 4years you will still gain 6!

    Low Carb Diets Dangerous

Congratulations, excellent news. You’ve done really well and deserve a prize. Although reversal of complications must be reward enough. I also followed the guidelines and just took the meds, which increased at every review. Thankfully discovered low carb and this site before getting complications.

    Low Carb Diets Dangerous

Reading through these posts it’s reassuring that lchf is still the way to go, as I know from experience; but I must admit to being upset by the radio 2 news headlines yesterday ‘a low carb diet shortens your life expectancy by 4 years’. I already find a lot of my friends and family fail to...

    Humidity / Heat

I’m also struggling with the heat. Walk about an hour most mornings but the same walk is taking longer. Also trouble sleeping. Don’t know what the answer is though! Perhaps I should move from the south east. But then I wouldn’t be happy in Winter. .

    Low Carb Program

The low carb program was a good place to start low carbing- when it was free! You can get just as much help on this forum or other sites, such as diet doctor. Basically start by cutting out sugar and all obvious carbs like bread, cereal, potatoes and rice. Find alternatives, such as cauliflower...
