Changes to NDSS (Australia) from next month

It is very hard to compare tax rates between countries as all taxes including hidden taxes and import duties etc have to be included. For example the taxes a landlord has to pay effects the cost of people renting, so it is not just the taxes someone pays themselves.

    SLGT2 Inhibitors...Ketones...good for patients...

No one knows if slgt2 are safe with a low carb diet, some doctors are advising against it, but the drug regulator has said nothing about it. We don't know if any of the people in the safety studies on sglt2 were eating a low carb diet. As to DKA slgt2 will keep someone's BG looking OK even...

42 Days To Restore The Reversal

@Pipp it is normal for our bodies to increase BG when we have an infection, therefore it may be best for you to forget about BG until you know what is going on with your enlarged spleen. "toast and banana" would not be my choice of food, but nice soaps (regardless of carb content) could be very...

    DKA

There is nothing stopping someone with type2 also getting type1 (comfirmed antibodies). Hence having prediabetes does not stop type1.

Can I do low carb, high fat with T1 diabetes?

@Lydiagoodman93 As you have not been on this site for long, you may have not noticed that many people (including me) who normally recommend "low carb", have not done so in response to this thread. This should tell you something.....

Can I do low carb, high fat with T1 diabetes?

If you have just been diagnosed with type1, it is likely that many of your's body's cells have been starved of energy due to a low insulin level, hence it is normal to put on weight when starting insulin. This does not mean you will keep putting on weight. Clearly avoiding drinks that...

    First Doctors Appt Since Diagnosis

Personly I consider metformin to be helpful, few people get the side effects for more than a few days provided they slowly increase the dose and have it with food. There is nothing preventing you stopping it if you do get the side effects and it does help a little with weight loss and...

    DKA

But many doctors don't know the difference between the level of ketones that are expected on a low carb diet or intermittent fasting compared to DKA. It is not possible to tell the difference using a urine test as the result depends too much on how much someone has drunk recently, hence the...

    DKA

Ask your GP to put them on prescription and remember that people with DKA feal ill, so there may not be a need to test every day.

    DKA

As jardiance is a SGLT-2 inhibitor, it is possible to get DKA at a much lower BG level then is normal. Hence if there is any possibility of DKA you need to test your blood keystones level. (Personally I would refuce to take a SGLT-2 inhibitors unless I was provided with a method of testing...

    Captain’s Log: Newcastle Diet Diary

Do we need a write on this site somewhere covering this as it comes up every few months? What I find admizing it that two leading experts who agree on little both choose the number 10, if I recall correctly it is about when the kidneys start to let the excess suger out, but I don't know if that...

    Captain’s Log: Newcastle Diet Diary

Sorry don't have a link to hand, but it is what Jason Fung’s recommend in one of his blogs for people on inslin who are starting intermittent fasting until they know how their BG will respond. One of the Newcastle diet protocols...

    Metformin and Weight Loss

“Modem” dugs for type2 cost at least ten times what Metformin does, insulin costs even more. Complications like people going blind and having legs remove etc cost much more. Along with more hospital nights even for treatments that are not directly related to diabetes.
