Type 2 What can I eat?

Oddly enough seadragon - the corn on the cob is something I rarely have, last time I had it was well over a year ago, I'm not that keen, so probably won't have it again for a very long time - now based on what you said, probably never again. I know this diabetes is life changing, but i don't...

Type 2 What can I eat?

Thanks seadragon that was very helpful. I must confess to liking butter far better than any of the alternatives. I do love fruit and we be so lost if I couldn't have it. I eat a lot of strawberries, blackberries, love love love blueberries and go through a lot of them, the LCHF you mention...

Type 2 What can I eat?

Hi seadragon, the skin thing really bothers me, and it's only been happening in the past six - ten months which unknown to me was me being diabetic, I wasn't sent to the doc for tests, I asked them to do the blood tests on me, initially I hoped to eliminate diabetes - but there you go, the skin...

Type 2 What can I eat?

Thanks Kate, and to be honest the things you've highlighted here I already know, indeed, has been my way of living pre diabetes, I've always cooked from scratch using fresh ingredients, so I don't use processed foods, and I only ever have drank, tea coffee and water, i don't take milk or sugar...

Type 2 What can I eat?

I have never been a fan of those slimming clubs, therefore I've never gone and you're quite right all they want is your money, I'm particularly cynical of Weight Watchers from all I've read. In my normal 'diet' before discovering I was diabetic, I have always eaten fresh veg and fruit - a lot...

Are you taking a new Type 2 Drug?

I find the whole thing quite frightening to be honest, and I also am feeling quite isolated, and worried that I don't do the right things, despite all that I've read. I would love to know if others felt this way when first diagnosed with type 2. I've only been diagnosed since the beginning of...

Type 2 What can I eat?

Hello John, you are in England so you probably know we don't pay for our prescriptions in Scotland, so I'm tending towards just getting repeat prescriptions because they're free, I just felt I would be ringing the surgery way too often if I were to use the strips before and after each meal. My...

Type 2 What can I eat?

I was given my Omnitest3 meter, lances and first month's supply of strips by the practice nurse, so now all i have to do is call up the surgery and order a repeat of the strips, I just don't like having to do it all the time, but I reckon a pack 2x25 should last well enough if I do it before and...

I was going to put my little face on here, but for some reason it doesn't load LoL - maybe I broke the system.

Type 2 What can I eat?

Hi that's incl vat - but I didn't know that about VAT, how would I know if I'm registered, is it simply a case of because I've been told and being treated for diabetes or does the surgery let them know - sorry if I sound naive.

Type 2 What can I eat?

The meter I was given is a Braun Omnitest3, and i've had a rpt prescription for lances and strips last week. I just looked on here and the strips can be purchased for £18.

Type 2 What can I eat?

Also, in some of the literature eating nuts is recommended, although not loads of them, but a small handful. I recall years ago reading that just one brazil nut a day contains everything our bodies need, however, I don't do it. The practice nurse gave me a lot of literature to read, which I've...

Type 2 What can I eat?

Hello Bluetit1802 when i got my kit from the practice nurse, she told me to test 15 mins before breakfast and again 15 mins before evening meal, that was all, she didn't tell me to test at any other times, which to me seemed a bit odd, therefore, I've only been testing more frequently in the...

Type 2 What can I eat?

Kate I have been reading up on low carb - when I was told I was diabetic, the same day I stopped everything white, I was big on pasta (brought up on the stuff) and would have it almost every day at some point, and in the weeks leading up to my diagnosis I was actually having pasta every night at...

Type 2 What can I eat?

Kate my weight bothers me a lot, throughout my life I have lost and gained weight big time, I had a tommy tuck after I lost 10st in 2004, it took almost 4 years and I put 2stone back on, then I stopped smoking and put another lot on, so I now weigh 110kilos I hate it, and I hate looking at...

    Symptoms of a hypo?

Thanks for starting this thread for me, obviously, I'm still unsure how this forum works despite my reading, and i'm very familiar with the world of forums, but I will probably only post now and then. I've spoken to a professional who has told me, since I'm not on insulin I probably don't need...

Thanks and I think you're right about helping them first. I'll come back to it perhaps another time.

    Symptoms of a hypo?

Hi I am on Farxiga (dapagliflozin) 10mg daily, as the other drugs were no good for me, if this doesn't work the nurse/practitioner told me I could have an injection but it's not a daily one, it's a weekly one, but she doesn't at the moment think it will be necessary.

    Symptoms of a hypo?

I hope no one minds me asking what will perhaps seem a silly question, but because I was only diagnosed with T2 at the beginning of March, could someone tell me what the symptoms of a hypo are, because I'm not aware of having any, then again, if I have I may not have recognized it as such - thanks.
