    Supermarket shopping

Hi, I highly recommend online shopping! My Husband & I are terrible for just throwing things in the trolley that 1. we don't need & 2. is no good for us! So online shopping you don't have the temptation or all the rubbish food in your face.

    Type 1 Diagnoses date

Yes that is very true. My cousin was diagnosed at the age of about 14 I think. I remember his Mum talking to my Mum & saying how she literally had to wrestle him to the ground to inject him & it wasn't always possible. Luckily I know he is doing very well with it now he is older.

Hey @MeiChanski I am very quickly seeing just how supportive this site can be! I genuinely feel like I've been able to say so much that I must have been holding back on. That's really good to hear that you & your b/f can understand how you feel to an extent. You can appreciate how difficult...

    Type 1 Support from family/friends

Thank you @KK123 I'd not really thought about it like that. With regards to him asking about my HBA1C, it's just knowing he cares. That's all I want, is for him to think about what is going on in my life & to want to know about it. And yes I can absolutely see why this site is here now! I...

    Type 1 Support from family/friends

@helensaramay I don't think you're being petty at all. I get just as frustrated & all it would take is for him to ask if I wanted a hand, or even to just ask if all is ok & I would feel so much better about it all. Yeah I will also count the carbs myself to double check, but I won't tell him...

Oh my word, yes @porl69 I would definitely check it for myself rather than just use his carb count to base my injection on haha. I won't test him tonight as we're eating out, so tomorrow maybe. :hungry:

    Type 1 Support from family/friends

Hi @Muneeb , Yes I agree, you shouldn't rely on someone else to manage your health for you. But a little support goes a long way. For me it does anyway. I know everyone is different, but for me, having someone just ask me what my last HBA1C was is enough to stop me feeling so alone & like I...

Aww thats brilliant, I am pleased to hear she is on the old carb counting! I don't think my husband would have a clue. Maybe I should ask him to do it for me. Next time he cooks dinner, he can tell me how many carbs are in it too. Is that a bit mean? lol

thank you so much @Juicyj I already feel like I'm part of something lovely being able to discuss these things with everyone here. 100% know what you mean about feeling like you ruin the fun sometimes. I feel like my Husband can get really annoyed if a hypo hits when we're out or doing...

Yes that is a great idea @NicoleC1971 If my GP can't give me the date I'll just pick one & stick with it :) I'm glad you sound it exciting at the time! 9 is so young, I can't imagine my Nephews being diagnosed at that age (or any age hopefully) x

    Type 1 Support from family/friends

Hi, I was interested to know what kind of support everyone gets at home, from friends, family Husband/Wife etc? Since I was approximately 13/14 years old I have felt really alone with my Diabetes. I struggled as a teen & had very bad control. That lead to me distancing myself from my...

    Looking for some advise/reassurance/honest opinions!

Hi @jsmith8196 Firstly congratulations on doing so well & taking control of the situation! Also well done for sticking out the pre-pregnancy clinic! I was going about 4 years ago & I just couldn't take it any longer. It just seemed to be 1 unrealistic goal after another when I went to my...
