    Being told to die

So sorry to hear you are being bullied at school. I agree that the governors should be able to make the school take action. Sometimes the governors are not aware of what is really happening in the school. Each governor is responsible for something like seeing what the money is spent on. At least...

    Travelling to Japan (HELP!)

Hi, just in case you haven't come across this site: http://www.70-130.com/travel/tips/japan-diabetes-travel-advice/ It has a food label image showing the term for carbs and a few phrases to practise - or take a photo of. Lucky you to be going at cherry blossom time.

Hi, someone will be along soon I expect with details of an online one but depending on circumstances you can claim back travel costs. Have a look at this to see if you could claim: https://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcosts/Pages/Travelcosts.aspx

    Rancid pig fat

Looks like there may have been a typo by someone - should be one and a half pints of milk and half pint of lime water! :bookworm:.

    Post surgery sleep issues

Hi, my dad (93) is recovering from a broken bone in his leg, just above the ankle. He is usually very active and has struggled with this. He has found that he is cat napping and still sleeping fairly well at night. We have found that if he listens to a talking book, or my favourite, BBC Drama on...

    What Is Lactic Acidosis

Have you been diagnosed with having lactic acidosis with that drug? It is unusual to have this after only a short term on metformin or similar.

    Sugar free drinks

I am mainly a water person, never have liked hot drinks of any sort. Occasionally I will have a bottled drink from Greggs. They do a cloudy lemonade, raspberry lemonade and ginger beer - all zero carbs. Not the same as a sausage roll but still quite good. Convinced it is the same as the one from...

    Misophonia

Hi, have you had a diagnosis of this? It rarely is attached to one instance with one person. Regarding them, can you not choose a time when you are not stressing about the noise and ask them how they are? Could be one of a number of problems resulting from the cold including polyps or even a...

Presuming you are testing then a letter from diabetic nurse to say you may have sharps on you can be useful. Never been asked for my letter but always have it with my passport.

Green & Blacks sale in Tesco

Just picked some more 70% G&Bs in Tesco for half price. It has a shelf life until October at least. The bags weren't so much of a bargain but the boxes have 20 mini bars in for £1.50. At 3.3g carbs per portion they will last me for ages.

    Searching for frozen asparagus

I spotted some in Tesco this morning. It was hard to spot as tucked behind the door hinge of the cabinets. 1.20 I think for 6 spears.

    Dentist and high sugars afterwards

The stress effect may have contributed. How about a couple of scrambled eggs to fill the gap?

Was in hospital last week Ketoacidosis..now?

Might be an idea to ring 111 as advised by your gp and check with them - don't let the fact that it is Christmas stop you from contacting them - they may advise you to pop to a NHS centre.

I cannot eat my favorite food anymore.

That is in an ideal world and takes practice and experience. I believe the OP has only been diagnosed a matter of weeks!

Type 2 What makes a good substitute for crackers for cheese... I crave the crunch

I like the Morrisons high protein loaf. Toasted twice and cut into 4 makes it crunchy like Melba toast. 2 grams per piece, 8 grams carbs per slice.

    Dealing with illness

Just focus on getting better and keep up the fluids. If you were on insulin or similar you would have guidance on 'sickness rules' to adjust the meds. Hope you feel better soon.

    Type 2 Celeriac

I bought some celeriac rice in Waitrose yesterday and it was lovely. It is chopped finely rather than grated. I did a dish with mince, the celeriac and the reduced price butternut squash noodles and a few other bits and pieces. I have used half and popped the rest in the freezer.
