Yesterday 6.2 at 6.25 (6.0 at 10.55 the previous evening) but not so good today - 7.6 at 6.45 having been 6.2 at 10.55 - but know why.

    Pita Bread V Granary Bread

I've found I can get away with a granary roll at lunchtime on my current insulin dose but I'm looking at alternatives.

    Type 2 stubborn morning highs

I've been having a similar problem so I'll give you a tip somebody else has given me @Worrierfrog - try a protein snack at bedtime. Greek yogurt worked for me last night - 4.9 at bedtime and 5.7 this morning whereas I've been 7s and 8s most mornings even after being around 5 the previous...

Really pleased this morning. Was 5.9 at bedtime (23.05) and had a pot of Greek yogurt as a snack before hitting the sack. Injected 7 units of Levemir ... woke up at 2.20 and was at 6.1 ... back to bed and up at 7.15 to a reading of ... (drum roll) ... 5.7!! :woot:

@ickihun I wasn't so much asking how much insulin as to whether I still need to inject if I have a protein snack. As I understand things, protein does increase your levels but much slower than carb so not sure if I just have the snack to hopefully keep my levels stable until morning or whether I...

Thank you, but I couldn't have done it without you! Still a bit confused though - if I had the protein snack that I'd thought about having (the 1.8 carb, 20 protein one) should I still be injecting Levemir??
