    Red Wine

I read somewhere that Prosecco is actually better than red wine . If you want lighter wines stick to Italian like Valpolicello or even Chianti. I think the red fizzy wine you were talking about is red Lambrusco . One of the few red wines that is better from thr fridge. The main thing is get a...

    Yearly Result !

I think hospitals treat you and your condition differently to the GP's surgery. They are far more open . The nurse asked me what I ate and said lots of eggs, she was just about to tell me how bad eggs were, when I stopped her and said " Even the NHS likes eggs now!!"

    Yearly Result !

Yes, I found it strange too. I suppose they like to be in control and in my case she's not. I've done everything she told me not too with amazing results. I had a routine colonoscopy last month ( old man's MOT) , the nurses in the hospital were the total opposite , wanted to know how I'd...

    Yearly Result !

went to see the nurse last week, roughly a year since diagnosis Well she went through the weight, BP and feet, noted that my BP was high, " only when I come to the doctors I said" and showed her my charts , which she requested 6 months ago and already had on her computer. Then she asked " How...

    The Hovis "Low Carb" bread

I use the Hovis bread and has no effect at all , also I sometimes use the Kingsmill no crusts. A loaf will last me up to 2 weeks so it goes in the freezer. Usually I have one slice, from the freezer, toasted with a generous topping of peanut butter or with a couple of verry runny eggs.

    Donner Kebab!?

< coughs> in the last 6 months I've had 2 nights out with the lads and ended up in a local takeaway. Both times I had a donner wit salad no bread. One spiked me at over 8 the other 6.5. I assume it was filling which did it. TBH they were great a nice treat but not something I would eat on a...

    Type 2 Beer

After I got diagnosed I cut out beer totally ( about 8 months), when I got my BG under control I though as it's Xmas I'll have a beer or 3 . I found it quite difficult at first as I decided only real ale would pass my lips, not John smiths and other such rubbish. I now have a couple of pints...

Type 1 Burning vagina with high glucose

Before I got diagnosed I suffered UTI ( not just a lady's problem) and the burning was very painful at times, anyway I read somewhere that a morning drink of Lemon Juice helps, changes the ph of your urine. I always have a glass of PLJ ( pure lemon juice) every day and it really does help. If...

Well this morning I had 2 sausage, 2 bacon , 2 eggs and 2 plum tomatoes(tinned) not a Shredded wheat in sight !!! I can understand Sparrow456 why the doc is saying don't test as it can be quite stressfull and addictive ( plus of course if he did say test he would have to supply strips and...

    Shredded Wheat !!!!!

I was hoping to find I could tolerate it now, I find these days I can eat lots of things in moderation, which 6 months ago caused my BG to go sky high.

    Shredded Wheat !!!!!

Clearing out the cupboard I came across a packet of shredded wheat. Now I used to eat 2 of these every day but since getting diagnosed with T2 I've not eaten any or drank milk, So with a BG of 5.4 this morning ( I rarely go over 6.0 theses days) I thought what can possibly go wrong, eat them...

    Recent mmol results

Also, If you can afford it, 50 quid a fortnight is almost criminall, a freestlye Libre is great. I've just finished a 2 week try out and seeing how BG changes by the hour really helped me see what foods were doing what. Try and get your doctor to prescribe it, mine was very impressed but said he...
