    Control During Lockdown

Evening [emoji1309] Still not great, riding the roller coaster today. Following sick day rules, daily support from wonderful diabetic nurse at the moment, feel like a right pain. Whatever this is it’s causing havoc and is insufferable. Feel totally rubbish!!!

    Advice needed

Hello you [emoji1309] I can related to what you’ve posted, I was worried about ketones and have had levels up to 22 on glucose readings - the difference being I have ketone strips and can keep an eye on things that way. I think if it was me I’d want to do the nhs 111 online checker form and see...

    Control During Lockdown

I’m really quite poorly. Lots of different symptoms including sickness. Never had ketones before so it’s stressing me out and finding it a bit overwhelming. Have been told that if things don’t improve overnight will be a trip to hospital and I REALLY don’t want that - the last thing they...

Type 1 self isolation, sick note key worker

Strictly speaking we are social distancing and following the guidance, working from home where possible - how this is happening is quite difficult [emoji53]

Type 1 self isolation, sick note key worker

I’m a key worker social worker and have to go into peoples homes to visit my manager and team across the board are very supportive. They did a risk assessment as well and were concerned about the change in government guidance from what it originally said. I can’t complain to be honest, they try...

    Concerns about my job

Are diabetics amongst those who should be expecting contact on Monday then??? Sorry for jumping in, just curious. Thanks for your comments Brandoon I’m a children and families social worker so it’s really tough, but I think everyone is worried about what they are expected to regardless of...

    Concerns about my job

Apparently there is more advice to come out over the weekend. I’m a social worker and in a similar situation it’s a difficult call. Have been told to work at home where possible and agree it’s the feeling of letting others down that isn’t easy to sit with. Hopefully more advice will come over...

    Type 1 and PIP

Hello everyone I’ve just had my HbA1c back and was really happy it’s 49 as it’s a significant improvement from when I first found out about diagnosis. But that isn’t the point of this post! My colleague was telling me that I should apply for PIP being type 1 as it impacts on my daily living...

    1st Hypo at work

Ahhh that’s amazing! I also have had a positive experience like yours and think my team and manager are brilliant - not making a fuss but checking if I need anything. What a great reaction, love it!

    Work

I don’t know if there is any guidance on this but I went to occupational health when I found out and they explained that I needed to have somewhere to inject that was clean and sterile and be able to attend any appointments I needed to without taking it as leave or time owed - but my work are...

    High levels since being ill

Hello all! I posted another message about levels when I was ill which were all over the place. Since feeling better there hasn’t been any real change. I feel like my insulin isn’t having much, if any impact on my levels at the moment. I use humalog and abasaglar. I haven’t eaten anything...

Which is better a mixed insulin or bolus and background

Hello I started off on humalog mix 25 and like Kim has said found it very frustrating that it was fixed and had no room for correction. It actually wasn’t really helpful at all for me personally because I don’t have a fixed routine as such and like to do things on a whim. I changed to humalog...
