    Just a question

Thank you. Yes I have had all the tests done with my diabetic consultant and it has been confirmed I am a late onset T1. I had an appointment with my DN and she has now confirmed this with my medical records. She also contacted the GP and I was able to have an appointment just minutes after...

    Just a question

Thank you so much @AndBreathe. A lot of useful information. And, yes I am on a low carb diet, but this is just to keep my insulin levels low. My mindset is still T2 and it’s hard to acknowledge that I don’t have to fear carbs so much these days as I can inject bolus. It is all a learning...

    Just a question

Hi @Mrs HJG. All done and dusted back in January 2022. The surgery received the letter from my consultant but it took an age after that for them to confirm the diagnosis except that the DN seems not to have grasped that in my case. No matter, I will see her tomorrow to clear it all up once and...

    Just a question

Thanks for getting back to me. I’m not taking any medication. My TSH and free T4 were normal, only the free T3 was down. I’m not quite sure how this all computes and hoping someone at the surgery will explain. Although going by your reply it will probably be “next steps” Maybe sort out my...

    Just a question

T3 was a private test too, yet again feeling fatigued and not taken seriously enough to be given a blood test for thyroid. (I have nodules and have been having check ups and biopsies at hosp but then discharged as all seemed fine) T3 result I will take to show my DN on Monday.

    Just a question

Ah, it was hard work right from the start with GP. I felt so bad and losing weight that eventually I went privately to see a diabetic consultant. Turns out I was producing very little insulin and very insulin sensitive. Metformin and Gliclazide did nothing for me. The GP had to acknowledge...

    Just a question

My diabetic consultant has said I’m late onset Type 1. It’s been confirmed. I questioned this as my diabetic nurse encouraged me to go on the Desmond course, I would have thought Daphne would be more appropriate . I am on Lantus and Novorapid. I also have low ferritin levels which may skew...

    Just a question

Hi, would someone be able to shed any light on my last test result? I have been diagnosed as a late onset type 1. Do my results gauge me as a Type 2? Thank you (Mod edit to conceal ID.)

    Exhausted

Have your ferritin levels checked, your Vit D and B12. I have been feeling fatigued for a while and have just found out my ferritin is low and my thyroid T3 test showed low too. Good luck with your blood tests and don’t wait too long. I was so tired that I did mine privately in the end with...

List of some Low Carb Vegetarian Dishes

Hi Musiecat, Do you have a breakdown of your cholesterol? HDL, LDL and triglyceride? Armed with those results you can then calculate your ratios on hughcalc.org website. Good luck

    Cholesterol levels.

Doc should also be giving you the breakdown of the lipids, HDL,LDL and Triglycerides. And the ratios. Without that information, getting as low as 4 is meaningless.

    Type 1'stars R Us

Sorry to hear this. The nurse or HCA should take it 3 times and cannot refuse if you ask for your blood pressure to be taken again. It should be manual as it is usually more likely to be accurate. A lot of us suffer from “white coat syndrome” and they know this. This sort of thing makes...

    Very Unwelcome News

Such sad news. I too am shocked. I always read and enjoyed her posts. She was always very positive. Heartbreaking.

    Bolus/ Basal question

@Matt2023 Thank you for your post. It’s interesting to know that you can split Lantus, and in your case it seems to have benefitted you. When you did it originally, how long did it take for you to realise it was a better outcome? I am never sure whether it is better to take more bolus as you...

    Bolus/ Basal question

Ah, thank you @EllieM. Yesterday I fasted until 1300 and then had half a low carb roll with sardines and half a home made low carb scone with butter and sugar free jam. The whole lot came to about 8gm carbs. Before that lunch I was 6.6 so I took 1 unit of Novorapid. It took 2 hours to come...

    Bolus/ Basal question

Thank you. Yes I’m in the UK and have the Libre2 I am in my target range 4.00-9.00 mmol/L for 89% for the last 30 days. But I am now bolusing 1 to 2 units for each meal to stay in target. Curious to know if one should adjust bolus according to the amount of carbs in the meal or what the...

    Bolus/ Basal question

Hi, l have just been recently introduced to bolus and was looking forward to more stable blood glucose readings, which, for most of the time I am having. But my DN just advised me to take just 1 unit of Novorapid before my evening meal and reduce my Lantus by 1 unit. My question is, would be...
