    Curalin

I showed the contents of Curalin to my consultant. He said it would be okay to take. Some of the ingredients are helpful in lowering blood glucose. It’s worth a try if you can afford it and works for a lot of people but I would say you still have to stay low carb.

    Costa milk alternative changes

I would normally avoid Starbucks but I needed a stop at the service station. We ventured into Starbucks as there was no other choice and I opted for one of their new milk alternatives. A flat white with nut blend. The lady behind the counter let me read the contents of the carton and I was...

    Alternative sweetners..

Hi, I find erythritol plays havoc with my digestion and xylitol and stevia have an unpleasant aftertaste. I now use monk fruit. It’s quite expensive but you can buy some mixed with erythritol, a bit cheaper, which has a much better taste for me. Good luck in finding something that suits you.

    Suspected LADA

Hi searley, I was under the impression that Type2 can go on insulin, and in some cases do, but then I always believed that Type2 make too much insulin but are very insulin resistant. Have I got that right?

    Suspected LADA

Hi Fenn, when you say, they, do you mean your GP? When I told my GP that the consultant suspected LADA, she just raised an eyebrow implying that may not be the case, then proceed to say that I’m probably too slim to be a type 2. Mixed messages. For my own peace of mind, I have made a follow up...

    Suspected LADA

C Peptide 0.5 ng/ml. My gp hasn’t referred me on the NHS. I should request a referral, I seem to have to ask for everything else at my surgery. I may even qualify for a Libre maybe. Good to know, I was getting a bit anxious that I hadn’t received my GAD results yet. Thank you.

    Suspected LADA

I hope I have started this topic in the the right thread. I was diagnosed Type 2 five years ago. After struggling for the past 2 years with keto and IF to try and get my blood sugars down and my local surgery just throwing more meds at me, I finally went privately to see a diabetic specialist...

The next step after Metformin - hole in my bucket?

Hi, I was only asking as I seem to be in a similar position. I was diagnosed 5 years ago and managed to do well when I cut out carbs and mostly doing keto and if. But it didn’t last. I took c peptide test privately in 2019 as my gp would not do it. It showed low insulin production, another c...

The next step after Metformin - hole in my bucket?

Ah okay, so you don’t think you are veering towards LADA?

The next step after Metformin - hole in my bucket?

Hi LittleGreyCat, I haven’t read the whole thread and you may have mentioned it before but have you been checked for insulin secretion and insulin resistance?

Low carb but BG high. Any ideas?

Agree. My doc said my pancreas may be packing up. So take the fullest dose of Metformin. But not prepared to do a c peptide test to confirm this. I despair.. Good luck with your DN.

    Some help please

Hi and thank you, everyone, for your replies. I had a telephone conversation with my GP (who specialises in diabetes) today who has just upped my medication to the full dose of Metformin and suggests we give it 4 to 6 weeks to see if anything changes. He seemed a bit dismissive of the c peptide...

    Some help please

I’m here again. And it’s the usual problem only worse. A few of you may remember some of my older posts. I am quite at my wits end. I was diagnosed type2. 5 years ago and luckily found this forum. Such a lot of useful information and a great help to kickstart my way of eating. For a while...

Any word on Prof Roy Taylor's Retune Study ?

They wouldn’t take me on. They said my BMI at 21 was too low. I thought they were looking for slim type 2s. Oh well.

    Can't get a good massage

I don’t usually tell the masseuse what my sensor is for, nether do I tell them I’m a diabetic. I put a large round plaster on my sensor and tell them to work around it and it works every time. I think that they are just being extra cautious. Enjoy your massages as they should be. They are...

    Type 2 Diabetes/ Endo Consultant

Thank you Ert. I always believed it is best to hear recommendations from others. I didn’t realise it was against forum rules. Oh well.

    Type 2 Diabetes/ Endo Consultant

Hi Ert, Would you be able to give me any details on the consultant?

    Type 2 Diabetes/ Endo Consultant

It would be privately. There are quite a few that come up when I’ve searched on line and the one I have my eye on is a diabetic consultant and endo. Seems to fit the bill but I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with a consultant in the UK.
