    ADHD, anyone?

Nothing to say about ADHD meds but just wanted to say I recently read a book called Dirty Laundry by Richard and Rox Pink, a husband and wife team. She has ADHD and it was divided into 10 areas ADHDers struggle with and written from both their perspectives, and all they did between them to help...

Feeling despondent, not sure what to do.

Agreed. What needs to happen is simple enough and straightforward. But getting to speak with a GP is infinitely more complicated! Our surgery uses a system called Klinik now, a bit like the previous e-consult and fingers crossed seems to be a LOT easier than hanging on the phone for hours. We...

Feeling despondent, not sure what to do.

Agree, it's all to do with the NHS spine if a whole prescription cannot be filled, it can be returned to the spine and transferred to a pharmacy that can get the meds. Few GPs issue paper scripts now, but if the OP can find a pharmacy to dispense, it's a simple matter for the GP to issue a fresh...

    Working in healthcare with t1d

I would speak with the uni to see what they advise, if you know where you're going in placement I would ring or pop in for a chat with my mentor/ward manager to inform them. A lot of wards now like you to keep your phone in your locker, but if you need it with you for CGM purposes then just...

my grandmas freestyle optium neo isn’t turning on

You could try ringing the manufacturer. I had a Gluco Navii that stopped working, rang them and they sent out a new one free of charge. I think they make their money on the strips rather than the meters

    Dose timing advice

Thank you Becca it certainly isn't straightforward at all! There are so many variables but this forum is a godsend, like you say medical professionals advice can be very 'textbook' which is why I'm a big fan of this forum, so much helpful advice to try from real people living with the condition...

    Dose timing advice

Thank you that's interesting and I hadn't even thought of that, my BG before dinner is usually around 5 so that may well be the reason!

    Dose timing advice

Thank you, splitting the dose sounds sensible will give that a try and hadn't thought of that. Afraid I haven't had a lot of support other than being told to inject when I start eating, really just been left to get on with it and find my way, which isn't great. I know I can ring either the...

    Dose timing advice

Wonder if anyone can advise. 2 or 3 times now I've injected my novorapid just before dinner and found that it seems to work more quickly than my food is absorbed so consequently I go straight down into hypo territory before my food gets absorbed or whatever. Doesn't seem to do it at other...

    Does milk affect BS level

I tend to go for a white Americano when I'm out or a flat white is better than a latte as it's less milk.

    LIBRA GLUCOSE MONITOR PATCH.

I get mine on prescription but they didn't make me do the one hour training, I just chose to in case there was any extra info in there I couldn't find online. Turns out there wasn't but I wouldn't have known that beforehand!

    LIBRA GLUCOSE MONITOR PATCH.

I did a few weeks ago when I got my Libre. Have to say there was probably nothing in it that I couldn't have found out elsewhere but some people probably do need it. It's only an hour, and will give you all the info you need. Also you get a free Libre sensor if you sign up!

    Type 2 Ozempic

GPs are able to 'bend' the rules though. When I was still diagnosed as T2, and none of the tablets worked for me, my GP offered me Ozempic. Due to weight loss, my BMI at the time was 19! I refused to take it. So he put me on insulin and sent me to see the consultant. Now diagnosed with T1 and so...

Wow a lot of carbs, that's so much higher than the old ones?

Thanks, sorted it now, I did it by pretending I wanted to post a reply and it asked me to log in!

    Rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes

That's a good point and I have tried to change my profile but can't do it in the app. I've tried to log in via the browser and it only seems to give me the option to register not log in. I will have another go I promise!

    Rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes

Yes, people often refer to it as rheumatism, or 'my rheumatics'! The umbrella term a lot of rheumatologists use is 'inflammatory arthritis', which covers most of the different types of arthritis under the auto immune umbrella! But lots of people, who don't even have inflammatory arthritis, refer...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I saw high protein rolls in the bakery section last week, they were rectangular and didn't look quite as dark as I remember the old ones being but they were definitely there. Don't know what the carb count of these were. Also didn't know if it's a regular line or if its one of those post...

    freestyle libra

I had a sensor problem this morning so rang Abbott. They asked me to uninstall and reinstall the app which I did, and when you do that you get the option to choose grams over mmol if that's what you use, you have to flip through several screens to put your preferences in before you can sign back...

    Newly diagnosed

It took about 6 years from initially being diagnosed as T2 to rediagnosis as T1 for me. Initially I had 3 very good years, completely controlled with the lowest dose of gliclazide. Then it started to go wrong with increasing HbA1Cs and no response to the meds they chucked at me over the last 3...
