Strange the things that happen on holiday!

I'm type 2 on insulin. I believe that the biggest difference is 1) Weight loss and 2) Exercise. I've been going low carb for some months, and combined with walking (average 9,000 steps a day) my readings are very good, I have 2 apples most days, plus a handful (or two) of berries, and if I know...

Worried about my blood glucose level

I think that lack of your normal exercise will also have been a contributing factor to the high BG readings.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I was 5.7 this morning, this is about usual.

Anybody else in the same boat?

I see that someone asked about your food/diet, and so I would suggest that this is where you may need to look. I'm male and double your age and I've had diabetes for almost 20 years, I've been on Insulin for about 18 months. The worst thing you can do now is to deny there is a problem, or not to...

How long did low carb take you to lose 15% weight

I don't know the % but I've lost a stone in the last 8-9 months and would like to lose another 7lbs before I start to think about a new target. Slow weight loss is good. Weight loss and BG levels are not necessarily closely connected (in my view) it's more about eating the right foods in...

    Not happy today

Get a bike, it is easier on the feet and joints, you don't have to be doing 20mph in Lycra shorts, believe me... me in Lycra and the streets would be empty! Just cycle, enough to get you a bit warm, perhaps breathing a little heavier than normal and it will make a lot of difference.

    Not happy today

I've been trying low carb for the last 8 or 9 months. I've lost almost a stone or 7kg and it is slowly going down. I like the slow part because slow hopefully means that I will keep the weight off. My BG readings are mostly very good. You mentioned low carb, that means very very little (don't...

    Fit and Healthy but Prediabetic

I'm type 2 and have been on tablets for a long time, and 18 months ago was also started on insulin. I have cut as many carbs from my daily food intake as I can without being silly about it. Yes you're right to cut out the obvious bad carbs (cakes, biscuits, sweets, chocolate, fizzy drinks, etc.)...

controlled blood sugar levels but increase HbA1c values

Carbs? Cut out as many carbs as possible. I looked at the low carb program but decided it wasn't for me, at least not at this time. What I did do was to restrict my carb intake quite dramatically. For example I was having two fairly large bowls of cereals in the morning, usually the 'healthy'...

Not happy with surgery - again

I British but currently I live in Germany, I'm type 2 with insulin and tablets. I had my regular quarterly diabetic check just 2 days ago (here in Germany I do see my regular GP but in reality I rely on my Diabetic specialist Dr for my care and treatment. So this is what happened to me... had my...
