Please have a look at DDs graph

DD 17MO is now on split basal dose, 0.5 units morning and night. It seems to me like she needs more? She was on 2 units a day single dose a couple of weeks ago and I felt that worked well during the day but she had night hypos (dose given at 7pm). What do you think is it a basal or bolus issue?

    How long after correction?

Yes I do test regular after giving it to make sure she's come down but I just wondered how low I should allow her to drop before giving the meal :)

Type 1: How many times do you have to test your blood sugar

I test my daughter minimum 8 times a day but usually around 14 times, more if we get unexpected readings or she's more active, ill etc

    Extremely high Glucose level

Your diabetes support nurse is the best person to ask, they will know your history and doses

    How long after correction?

If you give a correction before a meal how long do you wait before eating? Is there a certain level you wait for?

http://freegan.info It's actually horrendous how much food gets wasted!

Can I survive off Milk, Oats, Orange and Eggs alone?

You know stores throw out all the food that goes out of date that day if they don't sell it? Many people survive solely off the packaged food supermarkets throw out each day, most of it is perfectly edible

    Rice, no impact?

So it wasn't just rice, she went low after toast at breakfast and chips at dinner, lunch seemed pretty good. Looks like her bolus might need adjustment I'll call the DSN Monday

The team are arranging a trial of a CGM for her but not the libre as it's only licenced for over 4s

    Rice, no impact?

We're half way through the cartridge so no problems there, could well be her pancreas having a go [emoji28] honeymoon period is such fun lol She's just gone low again so could well be her bolus rates need adjusting now the basal has been changed

    Rice, no impact?

I'm going to try equal amount of carbs from potato instead of rice tonight to see if it's just the rice or she's just dealing better with carbs (had surprisingly good readings for toast this morning!) It was just regular old boiled long grain rice! I flavoured it with some mixed herbs and...

    Rice, no impact?

The measurements I'm certain are correct I weigh everything twice on the digital scale :) Could well be the teatime ratio is off now as we have been tweaking the basal, I might try equal carbs of a different kind to check. It was 30g dry weight rice which was about 4 tablespoons once cooked...

    Too high especially at night

I'm going to suggest you download and use the mysugr app if you can, it helped me massively with spotting patterns and getting good advice :) Sounds to me like her lantus dose isn't enough and her novorapid meal doses are too high. How are you working out how much rapid to give? Do you have a...

I am developing a Diabetes App, help me

Hi, I currently use the mysugr app which is fantastic, if you don't know of it I suggest you have a look because that's the standard you have to match :) A useful feature would be if the app already knew carb contents, so say you could input you ate 100g of rice and 50g peas and it would know...

    Rice, no impact?

Last 2 nights I've give LO rice with her tea and both nights she has gone low after tea which I treat appropriately and then her sugars stay pretty much the same overnight, dropping maybe a couple of mmol at best. What on earth? I thought rice would give a big spike but it seems to not affect...

    Little update

LOs consultant isn't concerned with the big spikes after meals, he said its to do with honeymoon period mostly and should be better once she's finished that. He agrees that levemir split is a good move so starting with that tonight/tomorrow and they're getting us a trial of the freestyle libre...
