Is it too late for me?

Ah thanks guys, I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one here who has been 'naughty' with my diabetes, haha. I've actually managed to keep my BS within normal range for 5 days straight now which... doesn't sound that impressive, but to me it's the first time. I do feel that I want to look...

    Graves disease

I was dianosed with graves one year after my diabetes. It was noticed by a doctor whilst I was in the hospital for ketoacidosis actually. He noticed I would move my feet a lot, 'wagging' it. Plus my heart rate was so high the doctor actually called over the nurses to look at it and they were all...

    Survey - Diabetes and Depression

Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 16, diagnosed with severe depression at 17.... so yeah, I feel like they are linked. Also I've been suicidal in the past and even tried committing suicide multiple times by purposely taking too much insulin and such. I'm not suicidal any more, but yeah.

    Receding gums

Hey all, So I've had bad teeth since I was a little kid. I did eat a lot of sweets but when I was diagnosed with type 1 at 16 they said a lot of it was to do with diabetes. I've always had bleeding gums too. I do brush my teeth twice a day and also use mouthwash (sugar free). My teeth were so...

Is it too late for me?

So I was diagnosed with diabetes type 1 13 years ago. I can't believe it, it seems like such a long time ago but it feels like nothing. I remember the initial shock, denial and well, I guess I never got out of that. I was basically told 'you are diabetic', stuck into a hospital for a week and...

    New Type 1

Hey Lucy, nice to meet you. I was diagnosed when I was 16 and it was pretty hard. It sounds like you are getting the right help you need and such, which is great! I would expect that your doctors will keep a close eye on your diabetes over the next few months and will adjust your doses...

    Type 1 Geography?

The milk theory is really interesting - I certainly drank a LOT of milk as a kid. We didn't have soda and such so much so I tended to drink a pint glass of milk instead. Will be interesting if it is ever proven correct though.

    Stupid McDonalds

That's a really good idea! I didn't even think it would read something that's not blood! I'm curious about milk now too...! I have tea/coffee with semi-skimmed milk but never thought it would affect diabetes, but then again my control is really bad...

My Introduction - Struggling with Diabetes

I think right now the thing I need the most help with is getting my sugars to a normal level. I am in that cycle of hypo-hyper constantly, all day. If I could somehow reset it to 4-8 and work from that, I would. I'm really struggling and I'm debating on going to the A+E but I'm not even sure...

Hey all, My name is Matthew, I'm 29 and from North Wales. I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was 16 and bang in the middle of my exams. I never dealt with it. The care in Wales was horrible at the time and I was quickly taken to hospital, shot up with insulin and told I had type 1 diabetes...
