    Novorapid Very Slow

Mine has about a 6 hour window - I can bolus 45 min ahead of a meal if I'm organised. Nothing "rapid" about it

    Pfizer Vaccine

I've had 3 x Pfizer. First two caused a temporary drop in BG levels and tiredness. Booster just gave me a sore arm

    Can she eat anything??

For me personally I can't eat whatever I want whenever I want because some food spikes me so quickly my insulin can't deal with. I may return to normal 5 hours later but I will spend those 5 hours feeling very rough!! So these days if I have something sweet like birthday cake I'll have a tiny...

Type 1 Honeymoon phase: when/how long?

3 years so far! I also have odd weeks where my pancreas seems to fire up and my insulin needs drop - but those happen less often now. I change my insulin ratios as and when needed.

How old are you and how long have you had diabetes for ?

4 years - diagnosed at the grand old age of 43. No history of type 1 in the family so came out of nowhere

Time to acquiesce and give insulin injections a go?

I'd be interested to know what the medics think is causing your BG to run so high given your c-peptide is OK. If it isn't due to the cancer then what? I agree with others. Right now I think you need to get your numbers down and insulin doesn't have to be forever. So long as you learn to manage...

    Phone appointment without Hba1c etc

I had an annual phone call too - waste of time but protocol now I suspect. Persuaded my GP to run some blood tests because I hadn't had hba1c for 18 months.

    Non Cardio Exercise

Added complication is depending on the time of the day I can either exercise and minimal BG impact - or I have to start stuffing crunchie bars and jelly babies down me even with minimal insulin on board. I now do most exercise in the morning because the novelty of stuffing sugar down myself wore...

    Insulin Freshness

I binned an entire packet of Tresiba at the beginning of the year. Morning BG were ridiculously high (lockdown so hadn't been anywhere). Changed cartridge and no different with BGs rising through the day and having to adjust with Novorapid. Tried a cartridge from a newer box and normal within 48...

    C-Peptide result meaning

You just need to keep checking your BG levels really. If you can keep them within normal range then that's great, but its the overnight and morning ones my consultant was watching out for with me - although they put me straight on insulin. Having a run of high BG levels is time to get back in...

    Blunt pen tips

yes - they are awful. My GP surgery insists on them (so probably cheap) but the pharmacy was out of stock last time so gave me a different brand and the difference was obvious. No more bruises!

You really can't take pure dextrose as a diabetic unless you are suffering from low sugar - which you aren't. I'm not sure why they have recategorised you as a type 1, but perhaps your body has stopped making insulin. If it has then you need to inject insulin otherwise your body cannot process...

    Hello - Type 1 Newbie

Eyes were fun with me. I've been short sighted for over 40 years but after starting on insulin I had nearly 20:20 vision for a couple of weeks. Sadly didn't last. My opticians were great and saw me a few times after diagnosis because my astigmatism was all over the place. I had a lot of...

    Any advice please

Are you able to start keeping a diary? Go right back to basics. Record when you take your insulin, when you eat, what you are eating, how many carbs, BG level before and 2 hours after eating. BG level before bed and when you wake up. I find being presented with a week of data made the...

    Blood sugar Control

Having a carb free day would let you see whether its your background insulin that's in need of attention. Showed me that I needed to increase my Tresiba considerably

    Type 1 high readings

what fast acting insulin is your wife using? What is she having for breakfast? Some foods spike blood sugar levels much faster than others and its really hard to inject for them. How long after she has eaten are you taking another reading? Going for a walk can really help bring those levels down.

    Tresiba Insulin & High Readings

I would try and contact your diabetic team again. I find Tresiba a really stable background insulin but it might as well not be there when I eat - Novorapid is essential for allowing me to have anything with even moderate carbs in it and bread would spike me into huge blood sugar figures with...

T1 refused insulin repeat prescription - Twitter thread

I lost lancets off a repeat prescription and it took 3 months and a fax from the consultant before they went back on. When I complained they put Lantus back on - both begin with an L I guess. Got through because manufacturer sent me some freebies
