    Pumping, swimming and TBRs

Thanks all, that's really useful. I think part of the issue is I have the Omnipod so can't disconnect! Will write more when I'm not at work! Cheers :)

    Pumping, swimming and TBRs

Hi all I'm on the omnipod and have recently starting swimming. I'm finding it really hard to manage BG around this. I've tried setting TBR, reducing previous meal bolus and snacking before / after... If you swim, how do you manage your BG? Thanks in advance

Should I get a pump or should I not?

See if you can get on a carb counting course too. I'm sure if you can get a handle on your diabetes management through a pump and proper carb counting, your depression and panic attacks will decrease too Best of luck

Fashion design student, seeking advice and support to help those with type 1 Diabetes (pumps)

I now have an omnipod which is tubeless but when I was on a tube pump I used to wear it clipped to the bit on the middle of my bra (can't think what it's called...the bit between the cups) or tuck it into the band of my bra in the side. It would be great to have a pocket sewn into the clothing...

    Abscesses on pump site

Hi Emma I'm using omnipod too. They have recently changed their adhesive and I got terrible allergic reaction. So bad even with barrier cream that I've gone back to my old tubed pump. Ypsomed will confirm this if you call their care line (same one you use to order pods) They've now suggested...

    Omnipod vs Insight

Brilliant. Thanks for all your replies. Good to hear some positives about the omnipod. I think I'll see if I can get a trial of it. The tbr isn't really an issue for me as I don't really use them at the mo

    Omnipod vs Insight

Hi All, I've been pumping for 5 years this year - love it and it's completely changed my life around. I've been offered a replacement pump (currently using the Roche Accu Chek Combo) and wondered if anyone had any opinions or advice about which to choose? Omnipod - love the idea of tubeless...

    Pumping and Pregnant

Thanks for your reassurance Weezer :) Was having lots of hypos and was totally unaware until reading on Babycenter forum that it's common in weeks 7-12 to have reduced insulin requirement. Now expecting to raise insulin requirements now I'm in week 13. Cheers again x

    Anyone re-used cartridge before?

Yup, I've reused when run out before and didn't even have the screw out plunger so had to use a screw/bolt to draw up the insulin! In fact, I had my pens, put a penfill cartridge in the pen, screwed on a needle and put the needle into the pump cartridge and drew up the insulin that way. Needs...

    Diabetes challenges and pregnancy

Wow Emmie, sounds like you've had lots to deal with! Don't really have any advice to offer, I'm 12 weeks and although my control wasn't brilliant preconception I did manage to get my hba1c into the 6s which I was happy with. I am on a pump too... Try to stay positive, do all you can to gain...

Pregnant and Hospital are being a nightmare!!

Hi All, I'm in a similar boat - 12 weeks pregnant and finding those targets really hard to stick to! A couple of things strike me Danlie 1) Have you thought about reducing your insulin to carb ratio? If you're injecting 1 unit for 10g of carbs, perhaps 1 unit for 11g or 12g would do the trick...

    Pumping and Pregnant

Hi All, S'been a while since I've posted but I've been lurking for ages! Happy to report I'm 12 weeks pregnant and so far, have been managing those incredibly tight targets pretty well. Until the last few days actually when I seem to be running hypo (or nearly) a lot of the time. I'm really...

    T1s Low Carbing?

Thanks so much for your replies - I'm definitely going to give it a go, with my wedding coming up in October I may even be able to lose a few pounds (rather than £!!!) Yes Dillinger, it drives me crazy that the medical staff can be so ill informed - I hear so many times 'oh but you need carbs...

    T1s Low Carbing?

Hi All, I am a T1 since 2004 on an insulin pump since 2010. I'd be interested to hear from any T1s who are following a low carb diet. I've read up a little about this, including Dr Bernstein's book but most info seems to be about T2s using a low carb diet to control their diabetes. I...

    Just finished morning fast

Hiya Mushy Sounds pretty good to me too - well done! One thing no one seems to have mentioned is that you will need to adjust your basal a 2-3 hours before your BG is creeping up - in your case, maybe adjust to make 7am-10am 1.25u per hour, then go back to your 1u per hour til 1pm and see how...

May be going on a pump

Good luck for Thursday - certainly sounds like you'd 'qualify' (tho I find it crazy that more aren't offered the pump)
