    Flying to Orlando

I’m travelling to Orlando next year and wondering what other people have done with insulin etc when flying abroad? I currently use novorapid/lantus so I inject 4 times a day, any advice for this would be great. I’m aware I need to get a doctors letter but I’m concerned with storing extra insulin...

How can I reduce my hba1c for pregnancy planning?

Dropping carbs can definitely help. My OH has recently started the Atkins diet and I've dropped off carbs from when we eat dinner and have noticed lower results after dinner/before bed - I'm also looking to reduce, like you for pregnancy planning :)

    Type One and the gym

I go swimming often and usually try and make sure my blood is a little higher than it should be before just to accommodate for the exercise...

Work and diabetes - does your diabetes hold you back?

I've never really felt it holds me back but can understand how it may do for others in different careers.

Hi kt78! Ah that sounds great that you have a pre pregnancy planning group for diabetics and I'll definitely have to enquire at the doctors!

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

6.4 I do believe, or around that. It has dropped considerably over the years but definitely needs to come down a bit more!!

    DAFNE and diabetes education petition

Never been on a DAFNE and have been diabetic for 20 years, my doctor keeps saying he'll let me know when there's a course but have heard nothing as of yet.

    T1 & Pregnant...eeek!

Bumping this as would love to know more about being type 1 and pregnant. I'm type 1 myself, have been for nearly 20 years, I'm 23 now and my and OH are looking to try for a little one in the not so distant future, so any advice and such would be good :)

    Type 1 and mummyhood!

I'm looking to try for a little one with my partner in the not so distant future and was wondering how you ladies experienced pregnancy whilst being type 1, I can barely find much info about being type 1 and getting/being pregnant.

Did any of you type 1s have a virus before you got diabetes?

Re: Did any of you type 1s have a virus before you got diabe Nope, but interestingly a few months before I was diagnosed I had an accident where I knocked most of my front baby teeth out, (I was around 4) and I've been told that may have something to do with getting type 1 not long after.... hmm?

Fed up, fed up, fed up!

You'll get there with it. I can often be up and down at times for the rest of us who've had it years and years. I hope you manage to sort it, and try not to get too fed up!

I've been following this in the media and being a typ1 diabetic I find it absurd. I understand there could be serious problems etc if you are diabetic and driving etc but really reading the articles has somewhat angered me. I only passed my driving test this year :(
