    CGM overpatches

    It sticks to the sensor.

    CGM overpatches

I am allergic to most plasters. But I’m fine with the libre itself, and with a tegaderm waterproof dressing.

    Question Re Breakfast Cereals

You can get a low carb granola online from a company called keto Hana. It tastes lovely with Greek yoghurt and doesn’t raise my blood sugar. I have also blitzed the cinnamon variety in a food processor and used it as a base for a keto cheesecake.

    Trialing Libre, Enquiring about Dexcom?

Yes, I put the patch on at the same time as the sensor and it stays on for the 14 days. If it’s very hot occasionally the edges of the patch can lift, then I cut round it carefully to remove the loose bits and put another patch over the top.

    Trialing Libre, Enquiring about Dexcom?

I use a tegaderm patch over mine and swim 3 times a week for an hour without any problems.. I can still scan the sensor through whatever clothes I am wearing.

    Wife's cancer diagnosis.

Hi, my husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer 9 years ago and died a year later. Yes, of course it is a terrible shock and you will be going through so many emotions. Living with cancer is hard, both mentally and physically both for you and your wife. you will need all the strength you can...

Freestyle Libre - Ending a sensor early

Same answer still works! I second the use of tegaderm. It stops my sensors being knocked off accidentally and allows me to swim for more than 30 mins several times a week. I buy my tegaderm in packs of 10 on Amazon.

    Life insurance

You need to go to an insurance broker who specialises in policies for people with medical conditions. Try looking for a broker called Lifesearch. Or go to unbiased.co.uk who can put you in touch with other reputable brokers.

    Freestyle Libre/iPhone

Try fully closing the app and opening it again (or switching the phone off and on again). I find if it’s continuously open for two long it gradually slows down.

But I don’t eat many carbs

I use a libre. It’s supposed to be fine for 30 mins in water. As I frequently swim for an hour I cover it with a tegaderm dressing. I have been in water for at least an hour and a half with this on and no problems. But the libre won’t give you readings while you are in water. Once you get out...

    alcohol.

I’m just trying on of those skinny lagers. It’s light, but nice in this weather. Does at least taste of lager.

    Freestyle Libre Hot Weather WARNING

Last summer I was working in the garden on a hot day and think the sensor was in full sun for an hour. It failed suddenly without actually falling off. Abbot replaced it without any problems. I’ve been a lot more careful this year.

Advice after Lymph node removal please

I also have no lymph nodes under my left armpit and have been told not to finger prick my left hand. A year ago I started using the libre (on my right arm only). I have found it has considerably reduced the need to finger prick. I usually do a couple of times to check a new sensor is working...

    Free libre sensors

I use tegaderm over mine because I swim a lot. I lost my first one in 9 months yesterday, but I think due to the heat rather than it snagging. Abbot are replacing it for me (free). They are very good at doing this if there are any issues with a sensor.

Very high BG level shot up in a year!

Personally I would take the first one after breakfast in the morning on a day you don’t plan to go out. That way you can assess the results over a long period before bed. From experience it’s not nice to wake up to fing a Metformin explosion has taken place. I find that a low carb diet makes my...

GP says HbA1c 0f 46 is too low

My gP was worried my HbA1c was too low, and said he was concerned about hypos because I’m on glicazide. (Im 60). I convinced him that because I fund a libre I would easily be aware of any impending hypo, and he allowed my medication to continue.

    Going Abroad

With the current airline problems definitely take supplies for extra days in case of delay. have something to eat with you, don’t rely on the airline as some have been running out. Also something to treat hypos and keep this and your meter (to check if libre warning of hype is correct) under...

    Libre and flying

I had no problems at the airport. Both times I went through the old fashioned arch type scanner and it didn’t set the alarm off or affect the sensor.

    Freestyle libre 2 problems

I started using libre 2 in March 21, had lots of sensor failures to begin with but Abbot always replaced them…even the one that failed at 13 1/2 days. I’ve just checked and my last sensor failure was October. So 7-8 months of steady continuous use without problems. I use an iPhone 13 Pro...
